possible lineup this fall

I said there would be 6 guys battling for minutes at the 4 and 5 spots, which are the PF and C spots and Gabe would be the last of those guys to see any meaningful minutes next year.

You really do have a reading comprehension problem.

my response was not directed at you it was directed at who was asking about who would back up Woodbury. and to answer his remark futher yeah i would expect to see McCabe in there in a 2 forward set, Meyer in the videos i have seen and others of the same mindset is a Taller version of White, who can shoot the 3 and bang inside,
as for blocked shots i don't follow those stats that close and until you brought up Earles stat i had completely for gotten them . but they do indicate that .3 rebounds a game by Cole as a senior were very poor,
and Basabe as a freshmen led the team at 1.3 blocks per game, after seeing some stats to compare it would have been better to have predicted 1.5 to 2 blocks per game just on Height and reach. but it is nice to have hindsight whe trying to justify you end of the discussion,
in the end he played in 18 games, avg
1.4 ppg
1.2 rpg
.5 apg
.5 t/o pg
.4 bpg
.2 spg
5 mpg
these are the final stats on the season that can be found on the rivals board or other boards that keep track of these thing, not bad for a kid that was not ready to play. and in hindsight. should have RS, people can overestimate a kid and what he will accomplish .
except me i get ridiculed and called names. for having bigger expectation for a kid

also Gabes best #'s on the season were
12 minutes
8 pts
5 rbs
1 blk
again further proof he has skills but needs time to get polished and used to the college game

Which is why Im hopeful he will be able to RS next year. Woodbury, Meyer, White, McCabe and Basabe, if all are healthy, are enough to man the 4 and 5 spots next year.

Unless he makes huge improvements in the offseason, my suggestion would be that Oleseni redshirt next year but maintain pace to graduate after 4 years.

If at the end of year four he is worthy of a fifth year, great, if not he can just graduate and move on.

He could turn into a really good player in couple years, or he could be just the same, this way you allow him a better opportunity to reach his potential whithout taking the risk of tying up a scholly for an extra year on a guy who may never play.

Couldn't agree more.

I'd like to see Olaseni redshirt too. I see him as a Kurt Looby type. Raw and athletic, fairly new to the sport, and could develop nicely with an extra year to work on fundamentals. I still don't see him ever starting though unless Woodbury or Meyer get injured or leave.

to rs a player it is ussually for him to be here 5 years to see the big payoff in years 4 and 5, not to waste a year and then run him off after his 4th year.
Olaseni will not RS and it won't take a injury to Woodbury or Meyer for him to see plenty of time

Thanks for breaking that down, that was a big help.

to many poster in favor of running players off that don't play up to their expectations, lets face it if want a player to RS then plan on him being here for 5 years not 4.

1st paragraph pretty much states that

to have a kid RS and if he does not play up to a persons standard and then to have someone encourage a player to leave, is in my opinion running him off. maybe in your world its called something else

Not wanting to redshirt a player is NOT the same as wanting to run him off. Good grief.

As much as it pains me to say; I agree with ol' herby on this one. The post cleary state to redshirt him and keep him on pace to graduate in four years and if he isn't a viable player after year four, let him move on.

FYI-I think that type of thinking is wrong. If a guy dedicates himself to a program for four years and is not a academic risk, you don't cut him loose. Also, I don't think Fran is that way anyway, or it would have been extremely easy for him to tell Brommer/Archie to leave.
Just because we as fans don't see what goes on day to day does not make us judge and jury on what value the coach places on a player that isn't playing a lot or isn't seen as a contributor.
Leaders don't have to be the main contributors on the team; a leader can be anyone on the bench.
