possible lineup this fall

Green for MSU was called a point forward so why is it that White can't be called a point forward, as for Gesell height i am glag someone has the proof that he is 6'1 6'2 has all i had to goon was how he looked in the All Star game compared to the other point guards nothing more,
so tell me who is going to sit on the bench with White being the 4 for this Team.
but i guess Basabe and McCabe can go to the bench
as that gives Iowa a starting lineup of
G Gesell
G Oglesby
F Marble
F White
C Woodbury
and it appears this is the lineup of choice as White can't possibly play anything but the 4.but in my opinion i like a lineup of;
G Gesell
G Marble
F White
F Basabe
C Woodbury
whatever makes these super star chair coaches happy.

Just my opinion, but I think if McCaffrey knew at the beginning of the season he was going to get almost nothing from Brommer-Archie, he would have thrown Olaseni into the mix early on. I think he expected Brommer to take the next step and Archie to benefit from more PT, but for whatever reasons, both digressed.

I said it then and I am saying it now, it is puzzling why McCaffrey recruited Olaseni if he is truly so raw he couldn't contribute this past season. Let's be honest, contributing in the context of Brommer-Archie sets the bar pretty low. Come in and don't pick up 3 fouls in 2 minutes and give effort on both ends of the court would have been enough for me. Olaseni made better basketball moves in his limited PT than I saw from the other two all season. I think Brommer got the nod because he is a bigger body, not due to more talent.

superstar chair coaches...no faith in fran! no faith in fran!

btw the sf is really a guard that is why most teams dont even list centers they have 3 guards and 2 forwards which is the lineup iowa uses. this is why fran usually refers to players as a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. 2 and 3 in this system are the same on different sides of the court. 4 tends to be the guy who starts as the high post screener and 5 tends to start high or low in post depending on the set.

Pretty much. With most offenses (especially motion offenses), the 1 is obviously a pg. The 2 and 3 are virtually interchangeable. The 4 should be a versatile, inside/out guy (white fits perfectly here). And in an ideal world, the 5 is a typical back to the basket scorer who can also step out to 10-12 feet.

WOW just WOW quick send a memo. to all the people associated with basketball to stop calling SF, SF and to now call them GUARDS, and now call Centers only Foward, the great Foval has spoken, and to refer to lineups as strictly a 3 guard and 2 forward lineup

Foval has now declared that SMALL FORWARDS ARE NOT tbe called SMALL FORWARD ANY MORE.
send a MEMO to ALL person associated with BASKETBALL to now call the GUARDS AND ONLY GUARDS.
CENTERS are now to be CALLED FORWARDS AND ONLY FORWARDS.
the traditional lineup of PG, SG, SF, PF and CENTER ARE NOW FORBIDDEN.
SIMPLE enough even for you simple mind to understand

What???? You have the writing skills of a 2nd grader. How the **** are we supposed to figure out what that says?

thanks herky for understanding this. obviously someone doesnt understand basketball as well as they want to come off **cough** herby **cough**.

we use a 3-2 offense. some teams still use the old 3 post offenses but few anymore.

eric may said as much about the offense last yr when gatens got hurt and he moved to the 2. he was asked if he had to learn anything different and he said something like no i just am on a different side of the court.

most teams that still reference a center dont use 3 posts and still use the sf as a guard.

herby, people that know bball know that the sf is basically a guard in today's game. i felt i needed to spell it out for you.

how long has it been since Iowa had a true post? to even try to have a 1 thru 5 lineup.
Iowa has had to use A 2 GUARD 3 FORWARD LINEUP OR A 3 GUARD 2 FORWARD LINEUP because Fran had no choice, and not every team out there can find a true center.
so therefore teams have to use either a 2 g 3 f or a 3 g 2 forward line up because they HAVE TOO. Fran now has a pair of CENTERS to go with a traditional lineup of a pg, sg, sf. pf and a CENTER. its not that hard to understand, nor is it that hard to understand a player being referred to as a point forward, even a grade schooler who playes the game understands that.
only i get ripped for mentioning it.

this is funny

nope its just your way of trying to rip my post because you refuse to acknowledge what ever i post

I want to TRY to acknowledge your posts, but I have to try to decipher what each one of them says. It's not easy. It might be easy for you because you are the one typing them, but for the regular poster that doesn't teach elem ed, it's difficult.

to answer herby's question.

how long has it been since iowa had a true center?

the answer according to his logic would actually be last yr because we had olaseni. you know the guy that if he started would have averaged 8 pts and 10 rebs.

somebody check mccabe's stats because if his are worse than the olaseni projections than gabe should have started being that iowa plays a true center and not a 3-2 offense.

btw the point forward thing only really applies if you dont have a true pg. this was the case for isu, msu, and the cavs with lebron for most of his time there.

In 10 pages of posts have we settled on a starting line up and 10 man rotation for Fran yet?

you will have to ask the experts, and remember it will either be a 2 guard 3 forward lineup or a 3 guard and 2 forward lineup. because the terms Center and small forward no longer exist or can be used

No, herby is now arguing about the actual positions there are on a basketball court. Once we have that settled perhaps we can move on to actually filling out the lineup. I was thinking of just starting 5 centers, thought that might be fun. Perhaps that could get Gabe out on the court so he can be that double double guy that herby keeps talking about.
