possible lineup this fall

If you actually think I said he will never play a meaningful minute nor can he improve you have the reading comprehension of three year old.

My exact quote to start in this thread was "he could be a very good player"

I know young children who can read and process written information better than you.

you should have watched as i quoted the person that i was questioning in Azhawkfan;; not you

I am all in favor of RS players if they need it but i am not in favor of pushing the kid out the door in 4 years when the coaches and the player puts in his time to the satisfaction of the coaches

Pushed out in four years? Aren't all kids pushed out in four years?

I have no idea what the heck you guys are arguing about...

not as absurd as you by saying he will never play a meaningful minute nor can he improve.. he was a raw player as it has been pointed out having PLAYED for just 5 years, before that he was a soccer player. the one game where he got meaningful minute he had 12 minutes 8pts, 5 rbds, and 1 block, after that game he was injured in practice and did not play for 5 games and got very few minutes the rest of the season until the very last couple games where he played in the 1st and 2nd halves, it might have been a few short minutes but they were hardly garbage minutes,
Gabes problem was more mental than it was atheletic, he simply lacked confidence and constantly got down on himself after each mistake, this is supposed to be that developement period some bigs go thru. and from your posts you have completely thrown him under the bus
I believe you've mentioned this before. What game did Gabe play 12 minutes and had 8 points,5 rebounds, and 1 block in?

Also, what is your definition of "meaningful minutes"? TIA

a minimum of 15 minutes a game. to be meaningful minutes
as for the actual game it is not mentioned, but it is mentioned in the season ending totals.
as for Meyer he reminds me of Bullard, and will be a solid 4 next to Woodbury at the 5, the new twin towers.
Fran may have to move White back to the 3.
when Marble, Basabe and McCabe are gone, you will see a lineup like this;
1 6'0 JR Gesell as he does not look like he is 6'2
2 6'5 SR Oglesby
3 6'8 SR White
4 6'10 JR Meyer
5 7'1 JR Woodbury
with
1 6'1 JR Clemmons
2 6'3 JR Ingram
3 6'7 SR Stokes or player to be recruited
4 player and year to be determined
5 6'10 SR Olaseni
the future is very bright, and from reports about Agau growing to 6'10 and a minimum of 240 lbs he would make a very good 4 that is listed as a sf right now, and is expected to be the #1 player in Nebraska next year and he was named to the Super State team in Nebraska as a JR., who knows maybe Morgan will be the 3 as people feel he will be the top player in the state of Iowa next year, and it is always smart to keep the best instate player home.

The scenario I laid out is assuming he is the last big in line for PT next year.

In that scenario there is no difference between him redshirting and playing a few garbage minutes. Zero.

You are essentially arguing that it is better to wast a year of his eligibility next year rather than giving him the opportunity to earn a spot as a contributor in a fifth year all because his feelings might be hurt.

Thats absurd.

You are clearly quoting him with the use of "absurd". You are truly a moron. It's hard to put into words how bad you can be at arguing with someone. It's astonishing.

In a perfect world,Fran has the flex to redshirt Gabe last year and then Meyer next year...bigs take time to develop.
Sigh...unfortunately, Brommer's injury screwed that plan up.
I would love to see Iowa get on the Wisky program of redshirting one player(preferably a big) every year. Next years Wisky redshirt frosh contributor will be pg George Marshall, who will slide into jordan taylors spot quite well.

Instead of admitting you were wrong about Gabe having those numbers in a game, you come back with more gibberish. Also you said the 12 minutes he had in this game were meaningful minutes, now it's 15 minutes? Typical crap from you.

BTW, Gabe never missed the next 5 games in a row with injury. He played in the very next game.

You just dont get it, do you? Fran has said they will not be looking to play White at the 3. Yet you continually say that he will. Quit acting like you know everything.

and you can't or don't read. who says he can't line up in the 3 spot as a point forward
, just because someone lines up in the 3 that makes them a sf. just like lining McCabe in the 5 spot does not mean he is a center. you have little to no comprehension on how players can be used in different lineups.
2 guard 3 forward or 3 guards 2 forward lineup, get a life and a clue

considering how he looked standing against the other guards that were listed at 6'2 he looked short.

You got a picture of this? I have stood next to Gesell and have a picture standing next to him, he was between 6'1 to 6'2 back in November.

hahahahaha...this makes me laughy.

So now Aaron White is going to become this teams "point forward"?

Obviously herby doesnt have enough confidence in the guards that Fran has signed, he thinks we need a point forward.

hahahahhahahaha

Omg, I wonder if Herby wants Fran to use another scholly this year to get Spearman?

Herby, have some confidence in our coaches ability to teach and in the talent of our recruits!

:D

i usually am one that will go back and forth with herby. but he did say that after marble and basabe and mccabe graduate he could see white at the 3.

i actually think this could happen if white doesnt get too bulky to play outside. if white has any chance in the nba by his senior yr it will be as a wing. if he learns to play wing defense and anticipate better to make up for his lack of lateral quickness.

this would completely depend on the recruits that are brought in and whites development.

white will be a 4 next yr but by his senior yr he may try to play on the wing some.
