Pierschbacher to Alabama (reportedly)

What about that giant offensive line 5 star recruit from Minnesota who had a former high school teammate on the Hawkeyes and made an unofficial visit to Iowa City. I think he had every head coach go to his house in Minnesota and kiss his ring, except Ferentz. Almost every school committed a third degree violation by sending a famous alum to visit. Now he is buried on the depth chart at Miami.

Seantrell Henderson? He actually started as a true freshman. He has started all three years at Miami, but has battled injuries and off the field "issues"

TM, I was talking to 1977 and he didn't say anything it being an Iowa kid. My point is Iowa lost two highly rated kids last year in positions of need. Way more than OL yet people are flipping out over Ross P.

Yes, and I gave a pretty clear explanation for why that's the case. People understood why Hill and Kenney left. Hill was always Michigan's to miss out on, and he took the first opportunity when it opened up. Kenney's dad is coaching at Indiana. Again, completely understandable.

There's nothing like that to explain this, though.

So just because Ross P. grew up in Iowa and was a fan he is more important to fans? That is stupid, seriously this obsession with in-state kids being important to the program makes absolutely no sense. Ross obviously feels playing for a national title contender is important to him. Just playing for his childhood favorite shouldn't make him more important to the fan base. Losing a Top DE like Kenney and top Safeties like Hill were actually worse for the program than Ross flipping if he does. My point since you clearly missed it is Iowa develops solid OL but needs top talent at DE and Safety, not everyone is a Sash or Bob Sanders. Iowa's best DE of the KF era was probably AC who was a 4* recruit.

I am just as interested in recruiting as the next guy; however, I am surely not going to lose sleep because a 17-year old kid decides to take advantage of an opportunity that he feels is best for him. I say good for him. Sometimes we lose perspective and get too caught up offering our own opinion as to the best decision for someone else. Sure, you hate to see us lose in-state talent simply because we don't have as many Division 1-caliber players as other states. And yes, the rich get richer (i.e. Alabama). But life continues on. The University of Iowa won't cease to exist because one 17 year old decides to take his talents elsewhere. Yes, it is unfortunate that kids freely "commit" to one school and just as quickly turn around and go somewhere else ... but that is just where recruiting sits right now. We have enjoyed the fruits of snagging recruits from other schools and as fans, I am guessing we don't spend too much time thinking about how those other schools feel about losing one of their recruits to Iowa.

Let's at least get one thing straight. Kenney's dad is NOT coaching at Indiana. They brought him on staff to secure his verbal, then as soon as that happened daddy split. Complete joke.

This would maybe hurt Kirk's image a bit in recruiting as we wasn't able to secure a top OL from his own state. Maybe it's because I work with 80% Cyfans and live in central Iowa but I feel it would especially give Iowa State (at least the Clown fans) ammo for another one of their videos or whatever pitch Rhoads would use to show they were able to keep the top WR in the country from Iowa.

However, Ross P. is an OL. It's a position that Iowa will find an OL who WANTS to be a Hawkeye to fill his scholarship. Not going to get upset about this. If he were a QB, WR, or RB then would be a bigger loss. Image wise this hurts but on the field not so much. If he weren't from Iowa, would anyone really care?
My condolences for having to work with that many Cyclone fans, do you get hazard pay?

Here's the deal. I have lived in Iowa and the South. The weather sucks in Iowa, but it's a much better place. I understand wanting to have success playing football, but Tuscaloosa is just another pit in the Southern trough. If I was a player and I wanted to get away from home for a few years to play college ball and enjoy the college life, I wouldn't move to an area that sits at the bottom of just about every quality of life indicator.

Yeah, Tuscaloosa may be the armpit of the South, but I would imagine there is a whole lot of this running around on that campus.

I spent a lot of years in LA (lower Alabama) and still go down there a couple of times a year to visit family. It surprises me that Alabama would have to put a hard sell on a kid so far from home as they have 4 and 5 star recruits all through their pipeline.
I think it's going to come down to if this young man wants to play near home or not. Alabama has the history, a chance at a national championship and a totally different college experience than what he could get at Iowa.

First, this is a gross violation of the rules of the rules of this board. Second, there are plenty of good looking women in the Midwest. I have it on good authority that a moderator of this website (other than ShockMaster) dated Jenny McCarthy in college. So your point is pretty much irrelevant.

What is your deal? Lately, you have been grumpy and to the point, what happen to the witty sarcasm? I don't get it, Northwestern had double digit wins and they won their bowl game last year. Btw, thanks for sharing that my post is irrelevant as if the other 2,685 were relevant.

Well it mIght be a violation but I wouldn't classify it as gross. Now if she was from Indiana that would be gross as you would probably have trouble getting those shorts around just one leg. I lived in Indiana for four years and it was four years too long. It was like FOURever.

My "deal" is that kids read this site and your smut isn't needed. It is irrelevant to the conversation and JD has made it clear he doesn't want smut on his site.

Well, if you're classifying that as "smut" then you're out of touch with the realities of kids today...
