Pierschbacher to Alabama (reportedly)

I don't have any true stats in front of me, but if this kid walks to Daddy Saban, how many 4 star or better guys will that have been under Coach I.M. Milquetoast that have left the state for "greener" pastures? Off the top of my head I have Adrian Arrington, Christian French, Amara Darboh. I understand why other coaches love Kirk, he keeps the games close and allows lesser opponents to win; and his recruiting is on par with his 4th down punt inside the 35 at Nebraska with nothing to lose in 2012. By that I mean sackless.

David Barrent as well. Arrington was a nice ball player as an upperclassman, but I don't think he would have changed the fate of Iowa football or anything. Barrent got injured. French was probably a man without a place in Iowa's schemes. Darboh would have been a nice to get, though. But the other 4 stars over the past few years, meh. Ferentz did manage to keep Derby close to home, though, despite bigger names looking for him. That was a coup. But it yielded exactly no on the field results for us.

I don't know that there is anyone who could coach at Iowa who could reasonably be expected to keep a majority of 4 stars home when they get offers from the likes of Oregon, Michigan or Alabama (and honestly, the recruiting feedback loop is such that getting those big name offers is what drives the stars to some extent). It's like blaming Tom Davis for losing a bunch of studs to Kansas. It ain't the coach's fault that our program is second tier.

That's how he rolls, he never goes full on troll. Sometimes it's anti KF, sometimes it's pro KF, and sometimes he pretends to be a Northwestern fan.

Just to set things straight, I am not a Northwestern fan. I am an Iowa fan who is also a Northwestern supporter. Tickets are cheap, getting there is easy for me, their coach is great and they run a tight program that doesn't take precedent over the greater academic mission of the school. I know it's easy to be butthurt because Northwestern seems to always beat Iowa lately, but I know I'd rather cheer for Northwestern than the likes of Illinois, Wisconsin, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan, etc.

Bitter pill to swallow my friend. However I do think a guy like Bielema keeps more of these guys here than Kirk does. Someone with a little more sizzle.

The only ones on the list I recall giving Hawk fans alot of heartburn were Arrington, Darboh, French and Barrent.

Fans seemed split on French IIRC as a raw athlete, but the fact that Oregon thought he was worthy of scholie got alot of people ticked we didn't get him. 6'5" 242 lb DE for the Ducks with 12 career TKLs as a RS FR. We could use him....

Barrent flipped to MSU after some off-field transgressions by Hawkeye players gave Dantonio some negative recruiting opportunities. His career was cut short by injury.

Davis IIRC was considered not a good fit for Iowa with non-football baggage. He was dismissed from Vols team for rules violations, landed at Cincy were he was also dismissed....

Matt Pipho was probably a casualty of Iowa having a top 10 class in 2005 with 5-Stars Dan Doering, Dace Richardson. 4-Star Rafael Eubanks, plus Marshall Yanda (Pro Bowler), and 3-Stars Andy Kuempel, Kyle Calloway all in that class. Played sparingly until his SR yr at Miami, went on to med school so might have been a great Hawk too. Good article here

Anyone who knows anything about Iowa football on Twitter, knows that it isn't legit until Todd Worley at 247sports comfirms it. Todd is the man on twitter but 247sports website sucks.

Anyway, Pat Harty said that Ross P. is no longer responding to text messages. Probably because he has media idiots blowing up his phone with tweets, emails, texts and phone calls. However, Pat did say that he has two reports one saying flipping to Bama, another saying he is sticking with Iowa.

Until Ross P. says something publicly we won't know for sure.

obviously him saying something publicly carries no weight.

Wow, glancing at the Iowa HS 3 and 4 star list is eye opening. Hopefully that list will prevent some wrist slitting tonight.

You know how when you have to fire someone you wait until Friday afternoon to do it...

I hope this isn't one of those times.

and 'leadership' a lot of times will put out bad information to the public heading into a weekend, when the public has their mind on something else, and the media can't focus on it for the weekend......

This is like "Days of our Lives", but for dudes. I can't stop reading it.

Btw, wasn't there supposed to be an "official" announcement made today?

It was rumored, but nothing from Ross himself. It is kind of funny if it was all speculation and Ross said nothing toanyone about a press release.

How can you believe anything he says?

As far as I know he committed with the caveat that he will continue to take visits and KF is fully aware of this. In other words both sides have agreed to the terms of the agreement, so I think we can quit slandering the kid. OK?
