Pierschbacher to Alabama (reportedly)

As far as I know he committed with the caveat that he will continue to take visits and KF is fully aware of this. In other words both sides have agreed to the terms of the agreement, so I think we can quit slandering the kid. OK?
What slander? If he says he's committing to Alabama, how do we know it is as deep as his "commitment" to Iowa? Slander is when you make a false statement to attack someone. My statement is neither false, nor an attack. Also, in print, it would be considered libel.

The kid can go where ever he wants. OL isn't an area of concern to me either. If he was a skill player like Dwight ,then it would hurt. Wonder how much Bama is paying him to go there? Just remember young man, your ride to Alabama isn't guaranteed for 4 years.. You get hurt and the stud they get next year takes your place.

I think the moral of the story here is that we need a later signing period. Kids just can't make up their minds this early and the signing day should be moved to August just before camp starts.

Yeah but then Saban will have another skywriter with cupid shooting an arrow through the heart and a big letter A. He has had his eyes on the Eastern Iowa talent pipeline since his first time around at Michigan State. This is not just a single case of him going after one of our offensive lineman. Its his path to the next level, Saban hasn't forgotten those couple of losses over the past three years.

I think it is ridiculous how Alabama has turned into the All-Star team and the top recruits from around the planet attend to win. What a great coach?!?!? What a great program?!?!? Many places would win if they could get the best players from other states. It sucks to lose great in-state talent to teams like this.

Exactly. Didn't need him anyway. Hell, is it okay for me to be honest on here? Okay, I will. We didn't need him and I personally didn't even want him here. These guys with 4 stars walk in and think they don't have to work hard and then the whole team turns into fat cats. Give me 22 Bob Sanders, Dallas Clarks and Robert Gallerys and I'm fine.

Agree 110 percent. Irregardless of star rankings, we only want kids who want to play for I O W A.

Yes I'm sure the reason he is going to Alabama is because their under the table cash offers. It has nothing to do with playing for a power-house program with the best players and the best coach who puts OL in the NFL.

Fire him for what? Iowa doesn't pay like Bama. Like it or not Iowa tries to do things the right way unlike the SEC.

So Bama is cheating because Pierschbacher is flipping to them? Ok.

You can brag on how Iowa does things the right way, but fact is, Bama now has this recruit, and Iowa does not. They will probably be playing for the national title again, and Iowa lucky to make a bowl game this year. Woo Hoo!

Well you can be happy, because obviously Pierschbacher would rather play for Bama and won't be going to Iowa. I'm sure there are lots of 2* recruits "want to play for Iowa".

Sorry, but this ticks me off, and I don't feel our program can afford to lose its top recruits. Iowa doesn't need him? I beg to differ.

Iowa lost two 4 star guys last year in Delano Hill and David Kenney top 2 recruits, did you feel this way last season?

So we know or don't know?

As Socrates said, quoted by Plato, "True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing".

All we are is dust in the wind, dude.

Go back and look at the list of 4* kids out of Iowa. Seems to me like we have better luck with the kids who come in with a chip on their shoulder and something prove. Plenty of these highly ranked kids have physically peaked sooner than their counterparts.

The competition in Iowa High Schools has to be pretty average.

There are many two stars who want go play for Iowa. This is true. That said, Bama seems to have the pick of the litter these days so if they get this one recruit its no surprise. Iowa isn't and never will be in the same zip odd as them. There are only two or three Bigten teams that recruit remotely like an SEC school and they are traditional powers.

Well, considering it was well-known that Michigan was Hills dream school (but was full at the time) and he left as soon as a spot opened up, and Kenney's dad is a coach at Indiana, it was hard to get really upset.

But we're talking about an Iowa kid, an hour north of Iowa City, who grew up a Hawkeye fan and plays a position at which Iowa routinely puts guys in the NFL. The circumstances are very different.

TM, I was talking to 1977 and he didn't say anything it being an Iowa kid. My point is Iowa lost two highly rated kids last year in positions of need. Way more than OL yet people are flipping out over Ross P.

Here's the deal. I have lived in Iowa and the South. The weather sucks in Iowa, but it's a much better place. I understand wanting to have success playing football, but Tuscaloosa is just another pit in the Southern trough. If I was a player and I wanted to get away from home for a few years to play college ball and enjoy the college life, I wouldn't move to an area that sits at the bottom of just about every quality of life indicator.
