** Official White Sox Regular Season Thread**

Sox top Angels in a thriller, with a walk-off homer in the 10th by Alex Rios.

This is one fun team to follow this year. They never give up,and keep bouncing back when it looks like they are going to go south. Tigers are hot,but the Sox respond by winning 8 of 10. This is going to be a dogfight between the Tigers and Sox the rest of the way....pennant race baseball.....cannot beat it. Sox need some luck on the health front with their rotation...tigers have stayed healthy while the Sox have had injuries to danks, sale,Humber, and Floyd. Time for that worm to turn...Tigers turn.

Man I thought the Tigers would pull ahead a bit when the Sox had to play Texas and then the Angels.

Tigers have had their fair share of injuries. Dirks who was batting .330 just got back after two months. Jackson was gone for a month he is and was batting around .320. They have had multiple starters miss games and Valverde the closer was out for two weeks.

Tigers pull out a miracle comeback win down 3 with 2 out and nobody on in the bottom of the tenth...score 5 runs to win...yikes.
The Tribe closer is a real jerk,so he deserves what he gets, but wish he had gotten one more out.
Tribe is 9.5 out now...stick a fork in them.
Sox and Tigers might have a long hot august and sept...but still early with a full third of the season remaining. Big week for the Sox...must beat Royals and the hot A's at Soxpark and hope the Yanks and Rangers help out the Sox by beating the Tigers.

Yeah, I thought for sure I was going to see the South Siders up 2.5 after last night. Big choke job by Cleveland. Went through a good stretch there with the best division in baseball and taking 4 of 6 from their best teams. We have 3 games that we can build on, and maybe a downer of a serious with Oakland.

Trouble coming up with the Yankees though.

Yeah the tribe did choke but after the Tigers let them off in the 9th 0 outs guy on third and they cant score him.

Tigers and Verlander beat the mighty Yanks...but Sox rally to beat the Royals.
The Tribe lose their 1oth straight game, and go from 3.5 out to 10.5 out in a week and a half....stick a fork in them.
This is now a two team race. Go Yankees and Rangers...Sox need some help this week.

Tigers and Sox have separated themselves from the rest of the AL Central now.
Sox are hanging tough, with rookie pitchers and injuries to Danks,Konerko, among others.
47 games to go....gonna be a long 6 weeks...but I love pennant race baseball, especially when my team is in the thick of it.

Sox top Jays in their house of horrors...can they get three in a row? Frankie Lirano with a bounce-back outing? Tigers are looking very dangerous, with Miggy my MVP,and Scherzer leading the league in strikeouts. Tigers have all the star power, while the Sox are the little engine that could...classic underdogs...Go Sox!

Sox explode with 5 homers...and one single to support Liriano and get him that 1st win as a Sox. Nice 3 of 4 trip to Canada....next jinx to overcome...Royals in KC this weekend. Royals kill the Sox,while the rest of the league kill the Royals....go figure...time for a change!! Go Sox!!

What happened?

Alexei hit a linedrive down the 3rd baseline that the 3rd base ump signaled as a fair ball, and Alexei ended up with a double....until home plate ump Tim Tshida stepped in and overruled the 3rd base ump and called it foul, after it was over....bad call, based on the replay, but Tshida held fast and Alexei had to go back to bat with two strikes...then struck out on the next pitch. Hawk was fuming,as was all true Sox fans. Next hitter,Beckha, promptly singles to left, which would have driven in Alexei.

Good news....the long arguement might have frozen Freddy Garcia on the mound, and the Sox proceeded to score 5 runs in the inning...should have been 6 but it was a good rally.

Nice comeback win for the Sox...down 3-0,get back ahead at 5-3,then fall behind 6-5, battle back to win 9-6....slugfest,with 4 Sox homers by DWise(thanks Yanks),Beckham,Alexei, and Dunn.....huge win for the Sox and their fan base's psyche, after a disasterous weekend sweep in KC.

Now, beat the Yanks tonite with Liriano on the mound, and again Wed with Sale going. I like lefty starters better than rightys vs this Yank lineup.
Rays are lurking, only 4 back of the Yanks, and if the Sox do more damage,Rays could be only a couple back by the weekend. That could get interesting.

Sox homer barrage continues with a grandslam by Youk and another homer by Konerko, allowing Sox to rally from an early deficit and beat the Yanks again..7-3.
Youk, who was hit in Mondays game, probably intentionally,by the rather stupid Joba Chamberlein, because of past grudges from the Red Sox/Yanks rivalry, got huge revenge with the granny last nite.

Late August/Sept baseball is hugely entertaining for true baseball fans. Pennant races are not for the timid or those fans lacking stamina. Marathon season is now boiled down to the last 40 games. Hang on folks, this is gonna be bumpy!

Really big win last night, JHHawk.

On paper, didn't think we had a chance.

Aiming for the "S" word today.. would be big too.

Chris Sale on the mound tonite vs Phil Hughes should give the Sox a decent chance, altho Hughes has stymied the Sox in the past.

Amazingly, the Sox right now have locked up the season series against the two best teams in the AL, Yanks and Rangers, and are 3-0 vs the Rays who are currently the Wildcard leader. The only teams that have a decided edge on the Sox this year is the Royals,Tigers, and O's. Need to take care of that in the last 6 weeks, starting next week in Baltimore.

Hoping a ChiSox win and Tigers loss today puts us in similar form for Thursday (When the Tigers have a decided advantage in their 4th game against TOR).. 2.5 Games ahead heading into the Friday/Weekend Series..

Although both schedules are ALCentral heavy into Sept and finishing up, Det has a decidedly easier path. Need to pick up half games and full games where we can..

On paper, yes, the Tigers have the scheduling edge, but I have come to ignore those schedule quirks, because of the Royals vs Sox quagmire. Often, teams that are out of it play looser and better than those gripping the bat too tight.

I do hope that the Sox are in control before the Rays come into Chicago for that 4 game series the last week....Rays are scary in the last 6 weeks of the season, with their pitching.

Chris Sale tosses a gem vs the Yanks, allowing only a Jeter homer to mar his 3 hit,13 strikeout 7.2 inning 2-1 victory....sweet sweep of the hated Yanks!

Unfortunately, the depleted Jays cannot beat the Tigers,so the narrow lead remains at 2 games for the Sox over the Tigers, who have Verlander Day today...yikes.

Next up? The hottest team in the AL comes to Soxpark this weekend...surprising Mariners, winners of 8 in a row,and boasting the best record in the AL since the All Star break at 24-13. The M's now only 7 games out of a wildcard slot, have the best pitching in the league the last month,so the Sox cannot exhale. Hang on,Sox fans...gonna be a long 5 weeks.

Chris Sale.. just nasty.

Might be a little bit of a downer if we sweep the Yanks and still go back to 1.5 ahead tonight.. Verlander pitching.. ugh..
