They've been 24th in attendance all year, I'm not talking one series.
Their season ticket base took a huge hit after last seasons flame-out.
It is hard for them to draw enough of a walkup crowd to make up the difference. They need to make the playoffs this year, and keep the core together,to bump that season ticket base next year....reality on the South Side.
Wow,what a weekend of tight taut pennant race baseball at Soxpark. Hot M's come in having won 11 of 12,and do not go down easy. Sox pull out three one run victories, to push their record to a high water mark of 16 over .500 at 71-55,with a 6-0 homestand vs the Yanks and M's. Tigers stay hot by having a 5-1 week vs the Jays and Angels,so remain only 2.5 back. Thanks for nothing, Angels.
Sox came back from deficits in all 6 wins this past week. Resilency is starting to be a hallmark of this team....including the improbable comeback in the rain yesterday where in the bottom of the 7th,down 3-2,with 2 out, nobody on,vs a very tough Millwood, Jordan Danks works the first walk of the day, then the umps stop the game to spread drying compound on the basepaths,as Millwood cooled his heels on the mound...then Tyler Flowers gets up and on the 2nd pitch,he takes a hanging curveball 450+ft to straight center for a 2 run homer, giving the Sox the lead 4-3...after two more batter reach, M's manager goes to the pen,and then the umps call in the tarp, and after a 2 hour rain delay, umps call the game...Sox Win! Baseball magic might be pushing it,but it is getting close on the South Side.
