Interesting return for Dempster: Kyle Hendricks and Christian Villanueva.
Villanueva was #100 on Baseball America's top 100 prospects. Not a bad return at all!

I am happy with the return. I would have been nice to get Delgado but getting 2 legit prospects is better than a compensation pick in next years draft. I think the Cubs did well with the hand that they were dealt. The players rumored to be included in a deal with the Dodgers were less impressive.

I am hearing this as well. It is nice to finally see a prospect at 3rd who can hit and play the position well. Vitters is probably a better hitter but will cost you a few runs with his glove, or lack there of.
I am disappointed in not getting Delgado but looking at all the players the Cubs have gotten between the 3 deals I doubt you could have gotten as good value from another team for Maholm/Johnson. So had the deal for Delgado went through then chances are Maholm would still be a Cub.

I am glad the Cubs did not trade Garza, with him hurt you were not getting as good value in return. Let Garza heal, get him back in the rotation, and hopefully he can bring his value back up. They still have all off season to trade Garza and perhaps he is the deadline deal next July.
I do not think the Cubs are done. Soriano, Baker, and Camp could still be dealt as they would all clear waivers.

Vizcaino will be a stud, I think the Braves just felt that we have so much depth he's somewhat expendable. We have Teheran in the minors, (#1 overall prospect) and Kimbrel as the closer for the forseeable future. Pitching depth we have, experience we are short on, and that's why we got Maholm and Johnson.
