**OFFICIAL CUBS REGULAR SEASON THREAD**

Well that sucks.. Dejesus got screwed out of a home run because of 'fan interference'. What if the ball goes off the fans hands back into the field. How does that get ruled?? Homerun because the fan interfered?? Either way Cubs get screwed.

I don't feel like Demp has anything to apologize for. This is business not personal and we don't know what went on behind the scenes. My opinion of Dempster hasn't changed a bit.

You don't believe Dempster made it personal by basically saying the Dodgers would be the only team he'd waive his rights for? Because that is exactly what he is doing.

Interesting lineup today starting 6 lefties.

Word has it a deal for Dempster may involve Allen Webster from the Dodgers. He was listed as a top 100 prospect but is struggling at AA this season (4-8 & 4.06 ERA). Tough to get excited about this when they could have had Delgado from the Braves. Perhaps it is a package deal and other players are involved.

He never said that, he has not ruled out going to the Braves. But he basically wants the Cubs to give it another go with the Dodgers. He is a 10/5 guy so he has earned that right to decide where he gets to go.

I believe that Dempster's contract says that he has the last say. That's really all that matters. It's not his responsibility to worry about what is best for the Cubs. It's his responsibility to do what is best for him, his family, and his career.

It would have been nice to have got some top prospects for Demp. But the bottom line is it is his choice on where he goes.

Webster would be an ok pickup in exchange for Demp, but he's not Delgado, and if the deal went through with the braves then maybe Garza goes tot he dodgers for Lee. Then you have Lee and delgado, which would have been awesome. However who knows.

I think the talk of the cubs keeping Demp is more of a push for leverage retention that they loss when he said he'd only go to the dodgers. Honestly I say keep him and make him the offer. Recently I had said I thought the cubs traded Demp and resigned him. I think a lot of things make that impossible now and honestly I think best that the cubs and Demp part ways at the end of the season if a trade doesn't occur.

That is a big change of tune for you. I was wondering if you would back off those predictions of Dempster coming back to the Cubs next year. Do not let these guys fool you, at his age it is all about the money.

I agree about Webster, I would probably be more excited about the extra draft pick than getting Webster.

If the deal had gone through smoothly I would not have backed off. I still think Demp loves Chicago are, as seen by his I will only go to LAD or stay here attitude. However the way this was handled I'm not sure the cubs will want him back. If they could have gotten a good prospect like Delgado or Lee (who is a few years a way yet) they may have wanted Demp back to bridge the gap a bit, but now he has put them in a corner in a bad way with Garza as well as Demp, really any trades, and I doubt Theo likes that.

If all had gone as planned it would have been fun to watch, but alas it is the cubs and it never goes as planned.

I should also mention that I don't think Demp or Garza get traded prior to the deadline (which would be a horrible ending to this promising month of trade potential) Hope I'm wrong.

If the Cubs cannot get either Lee or Delgado for Dempster then they should just play out the season with him, tender him the minimum contract, and take the compensation pick. The Cubs have got to get better than 1st round value for Dempster in order to make the trade. It sucks the Braves let this deal leak as it took away all the Cubs leverage they had with the Dodgers.

Does Dempster think he is the only player that has gone thru trade negotiations? What a whiny baby he is being thru this process. I don't care if he pitches another game as a Cub. Fact is he screwing the Cubs out of an opportunity to get better. He could play for a contender for a couple of months. Then find the best deal next year.

It appears Castro and Rizzo are tearing it up today. Hopefully they will have many more days like today over the next several years. Too bad Wood has given up 6 through the first 3 innings.

Dude we know the Cubs suck, so when you come into a Cubs thread and try to talk trash it has 0 effect on us. We don't really care about this year. 3 or 4 years from now, we'll probably be mad about losing again. For now, there's no point.
