We don't need to tighten the rotation. Williams and Kriener shouldn't ride the pine.
Last year he was for lack of a better option. He under performed so badly that I have a feeling Fran is looking at other possibilities, like Ellingson or Dailey.

As to shortening the rotation, one of the Hawks best players from last year (Pemsl) isn't even getting mentioned for any minutes at all! Seem kind of hilarious to me!
I click on over here thinking I am going to read something on how well Nunge and Garza did and this is what I find??? Come on guys if you want banter back and forth just start another thread about player rotation.
Well we have two incoming freshman, who most are expecting to play. We have 13 scholarship players who probably are all hopeful that they will be part of the rotation.
It seems pretty logical that the interest in Garza and Nunge has led us here.
All I know is the two freshmen coming in are dominating the PTL... They can put the ball in the basket and have a ton of confidence in their games. They are 1 and 2 in scoring. I'm not going to say I expect them both to start day one. But if not then at some point in the year I won't be surprised if they are. If they can play D at all and keep the mental mistakes/turnovers to a minimum it'll be tough to keep them off the floor. They just provide more size and overall upside then what Wagner/Uhl/Pemsl do. All three of them have some obvious deficiencies to their games. These two may have some of their own too but so far their ability to score inside and out as much as they can to me gives them a heck of a leg up for serious playing time...
Why do you say that if you don't mind me asking? Most successful teams play 8 or 9 man rotations
You can eliminate "successful" from your post and it would still be true. It's not like the successful teams are successful because of their rotation. They are successful already and just happen to have an 8 or 9 team rotation because that is the norm.
Yeah... A guy like Kriener can really play. He's a guy that could play for a bunch of other schools if not as a starter more than what he will for us next yr. Guys like Uhl and Wagner are far enough along it don't matter. But I'd be so much happier if Kriener were to get more mins than those two but I doubt that'll happen...You just hope no bigs become disgruntled for lack of playing time. You hope they think team first, which probably they will do. Could see this leading to a transfer at the end of next season, though that's hardly going out on a limb.
Yeah no chance Nunge red shirts. When it comes to Cook and Pemsl I think those guys played better when the other was off the floor... If my memory is correct Pemsl played lights out when Cook was out that little while. And Cook didn't seem to play his best when Pemsl was out there with him. Their lack of midrange/outside games clutters up the lane I think so they may be better playing with one of them on the floor at a time alongside someone else. The debate for how they divide mins for the bigs will be an ongoing topic all year I bet because Fran will try and play a lot of bodies because he does feel good players earn PT... How that'll translate to the team chemistry and ultimately wins and losses we'll see...Good point and that's true, I am just looking at teams that have been successful in our own conference. Purdue won the conference last year playing 8 guys. Wisconsin usually played 9 guys. I just hope Fran trims the rotation down. I said the 4 guys I wanted to sit out and at some point you have to make tough decisions. Another poster just said Kriener and Williams proved they deserved minutes and I guess I don't understand that logic. With Cook, Pemsl, Dom, Kriener, Garza and Nunge you shouldn't play more than 4 of those guys every night. If you could redshirt Nunge that would make things much easier but I think he's going to be too good not to play
Agree, but do you also agree that Fran's offense is not based on a dribble drive philosophy. If I recall last year, Iowa didn't have any problems getting shots off prior to the shot clock. If I remember correctly, weren't they one of the faster shooting teams on offense?
It may just be PTL hysteria but I keep coming back to this line of thinking that both the freshman in the starting lineup makes a ton of sense. All I know is the two freshmen coming in are dominating the PTL...
