Murray Twins Commit to Iowa

most are not tearing down the kids, they tearing down the idiot at the top offering the kids....you know having a recruiting class that is going to be at the bottom of the BIG, that is just not impressive at all...
I agree that the class doesn't sound very impressive. The two Murray guys were first and second team all state, and since that time they have supposedly grown three inches and put on twenty pounds. None of the recruits so far will probably be first round NBA Picks, but it is isn't very common for this even at some of the other conference schools. Growing three inches and putting on twenty pounds can be the difference between a three star and four star player. The fans should give all the players a chance to prove themselves. If the players flop it shouldn't be on the players, but the coaching staff. If the players are successful the players will get the credit and the coaching staff will have kind of earned their money. I don't think they coaches are worth what they are being paid though.

Welp this sucks. The Murray twins would be decent players for Luther College. The fact Fran offered them a scholarship is really troubling. This recruiting class is a freaking disaster. We are officially at Lickliter talent levels with these guys.

A bit of catastrophizing there. From what has been seen so far, the Murray twins were not there as juniors or seniors in high school. But you also can't teach 50/40/90 shooting in a 6'8 frame. If they can put on muscle this year and add a bit more of a post game, they could help us from day 1. Especially if they're as cerebral of players as we've heard and can dig in on defense/in the paint grabbing rebounds.

You could be right, you might be wrong. I will say that I do like the fact that they spent an entire year doing nothing but playing basketball at an academy in Florida. no school, no classes, nothing but basketball. Sounds like they put on muscle and size there as well. Doesn't take away from the fact that they didnt have much of any offers coming out of high school, but maybe thats just motivation. At this point Fran basically has to reach for diamonds in the rough...as Hawkeye fans are we supposed to root against them?

IMO the Murray twins are low risk/high reward. Sure you're giving out 2 scholarships, but next year you'll only have 9 players on scholarship, so adding 4 players puts you back at the max of 13. That doesn't include guys who leave early. Then the next class you at least graduate Garza, Till and Pemsl which frees up 3 more scholarships for the 2021 class. Again transfers and Wieskamp will change those numbers.

Being in the transfer culture of today, I don't really mind taking chances on potential. If they aren't good and won't play...they will leave on their own. (see Hutton, Flemming, Williams, Maishe, Wagner, Jones, Dickerson, Ellingson)

It's not the players who need to prove themselves. They have 4 years to do that anyway, it's Fran who has had 10 years to prove himself. Lickliter no longer has anything to do with Iowa basketball and is no longer a factor in what Fran is doing/hasn't been able to do.

It looks like their prep academy will be posting their games. The dunk happens at 1:29:30 in this video:
Not sure what the opponent quality is like for these prep teams, but the Murrays were clearly the biggest players on the court in the first game of the season (Final score 121-58).

Right at 53 minutes is a dunk by Kris as well

55 minutes is a weird free throw from Keegan that maybe wasn't an attempt?

59 minutes is a sweet looking 3 from Kris

67:20 is a good looking 3 from Keegan
