Media Bomb?

I'm guessing it was the article that the ICPC ran, quoting Jess Settles, Kenyon Murray, and ESPN's Andy Katz. If I remember correctly, on his show that morning, Jon would only elaborate that people close to the program would soon be talking. Jess and Kenyon would fit that criteria.

It was. And the reason why I came back later that day and said I wish I had not said anything, was because my assumption of what would be on the record vs possible revelations of true feelings would be different...

And after reading the piece, I think that was the case. A lot of former players are what we are now; they are passionate fans...they have a big emotional stake in things too. And I believe that many of them, when the microphone is turned off, have more biting analysis than what they will share when the mic is on.

I should have thought that all the way through before I said anything..such is the case with a live radio show from time to time.

So i guess what youre saying is that the media bomb didnt detonate. I'm glad we can finally put this whole epic saga to rest

Obviously, what you are saying is that kenyon and Jess pulled their punches for the P-C article, not revealing the true depth of their despair over the current state of Iowa bb, right?

I know that Kenyon had to be very upset to even say what he did in the article...ie. that our recruiting is severely damaged by the current regime...kenyon worked the Elite Camp last summer so he is not a stranger nor an enemy of licks...just calling it straight, imo.

You thought that article was a bombshell? More like beating a dead horse.

I think what Jon is implying is that what Kenyon and Jess and other former players have told him off the record is much more incriminating that what they said for publication, right Jon?

I, for one, do not believe you, and I hope you are hiding something else. If this was the media bomb, then I am disappointed.

I'm waiting for THE BOMB! Give me a 100-megaton Tsar Bomba.

I am not going to sit here and lie. I don't do that. And I immediately said that I would go and take it back if I could, because after thinking about it, I figured what was going to be in the that story was going to be a watered down version of what I heard was said.

Just heard, Michael Jordan is coming back to help the hawks! The NCAA granted him a waiver to play again and Lick told him, "when lil johnny gets tired next year, you will be his back-up" Great News for the hawks!

The bomb is that Big Lick is going to retire and Little Lick will be the new coach.
Also next year instead of dollar dogs it will be .10 cent vienna sausages.

It turns out our media bomb is more like one of those un-exploded bomblets in a cluster bomb. It came without much fanfare, but it will lie dormant for a few years, then blow off the foot of some farmer who accidentally steps on it.

Good grief. Four pages of this thread to re-hash fevered scuttlebut that turned out to be virtually nothing? Jon, close it.
