ISU point guard to transfer

This is an honest question: at what point does history stop being relevant? Iowa has a big lead all time in basketball. But Iowa started out 17-1... all before 1920. In my lifetime, the achievement of both programs is pretty dang similar.

Sports are about history and traditions. That is why we have hall of fames to commerorate past greats and records are kept to remember each school's history. Notre dame football is still relevant because of the past history. That is why I think history will always be relevant in sports. Maybe ISU fans don't care about history because history have not been so kind to ISU sports.

I reckon ole Georgey blew a kiss to all the students at the big game last season. I reckon he weren't blowin no kisses after they got their tail beat good by the team from alabama. He ain't go no class and it catched up to him. Yep.

I was a little disappointed with Niang chose ISU over the Hawks. Turns out...he was the perfect fit for the clones... another tool.

Not a peak, dipsh!t. Iowa is coming out of a huge valley and is improving every year. The peak is ahead.

And Iowa State didn't come out of a huge Valley? Are you forgetting what McDoormat left Fred? Lick left Iowa pretty bare as well there's no denyign that, but ISU was pretty bare as well.

Maybe that's part of it. There is some shelf life though because nobody cares if minny has more football titles than Texas.

I think its been proven that Iowa and Iowa state have different standards in loyalty to players and recruiting standards. I see where Fred lost his lead recruiter. It will be interesting to see how their recruiting goes. The guy must be one salesman.

Basically over the last 35 years, Iowa and ISU have been very similar. I really don't get ISU fans superiority complex with BB, as there isn't barely a hairs worth of difference. The only difference is ISU got to the NCAA a couple year earlier than Iowa after they were both down.

I am sure Minnesota and some big ten fans still care. Just the fact that you brought it up shows that history can't be erased. The Gophers will always have their titles to hang their hat on. As far as Iowa and ISU goes, of course the history of the rivalry is relevant because both sides know it. Outside of the state nobody cares. Btw. From my perspective it's the ISU fans who like to bring up the past history as long as they can cherry pick the dates.

Well I'll give Deace one thing, he has one of my favorite quotes regarding this: "if you're talking about the past, it means your present sucks". And it's 100% true. ISU loses in the first round and ISU fans can't wait to talk about last year, next year, or the B12T. I can't blame us either.

It will never be irrelevant as long as Iowa is still leading in all of the series. If that ever changes, I might feel differently.

Relevance to recruits is all that really matters. I can't speak to what they care about but I doubt that 35 years ago is high on the list.

Exactly, and ISU isn't relevant to high school kids. A year from now Fred will have exactly 1 (or at most 2) high school recruits on his roster. HS kids know the deal at ISU, and just don't seem to want to go there.

Ah, but it has. 2011 win over Okie State. Clowns can live off that for a few more years. Don't forget the all to familiar we would have beat Texas if the Big 12 didn't have a conspiracy against us.

Give me Evan Payne and the kid from mizzou and I couldn't care less. Although with Otz back on the staff there will probably be a few more high school kids.

Hold on. You think the assistant coaches decide who Fred recruits and offers?

As far as not having any high school players on the roster, that should be concerning to you, as you made the claim that Fred has built this program on 4 year players......yet it doesn't bother you that this foundation will be gone, that doesn't really compute.

I think they got pretty lucky with Morris, Niang, Ejim, and I think they'll be successful regardless.

Certain assistants have certain pipeline schools or states in which they recruit well. TJ Otzelberger opens different doors than Matt Abdelmassih.

Keep telling yourself this if you like. I mean ties to the school is certainly why Fred pursued Vaughn last year and Diallo this year.....

HS recruiting is irralavant and unnecessary to Fred. He has a pattern now. Go after one 5* HS kid and fill the rest up with transfer. It is working, I don't know why ISU fan has to pretend it is different than that
