Iowa had very little in tangibles to offer Fry in 79. What they had was a ton of potential. ISU reminds me of that.

quality stuff right there. it's not like the guy only lifts a lot of weight - it's that he backs it up on the field. nothing like bagging on a high 1st round pick, a guy who Ferentz says could be the best at iowa EVER......but clowns are clownz for a reason.

Earle Bruce got ISU to the Peach Bowl in year 5 (which back then was a solid bowl and no small feat). Paw, despite now having 9 conference games opposed to Earle's 7 conference games, has never won more than 3 conference games in a season. Earle was good enough to get hired at OSU. Who gonna hire Paw?

Iowa had a ton of good football history pre 60's and 70's. ISU has no history whatsoever. There isn't anywhere near the potential at ISU compared to the potential at Iowa in the late 70's.

Now that I know Iowa's DL will have to go up against "Ace and Gary" on September 13th, I feel a lot worse about our chances.
