How can somebody who gets to the position of AD at a major university not know you need a paper trail when you plan to release someone.Gary Barta should be fired with cause. No buyout, no "retirement". Fired. Zero dollars. Goodbye now. He has not only managed his department poorly, he has turned a completely winnable case into a multi-million dollar loss and painted a bullseye on the university for SJWs for years to come because he couldn't bother to do some paperwork to back up firing two people. No settlement. Fired for gross incompetence. Buh bye.

This is the obvious question. Me thinks there is no good answer.
Oh look, all the old bigoted white men have come out to comment. As much as you all might hate the verdict, the jury and the university have spoken -- they were in the wrong. Let's move on and get back to complaining about how awful GB has been in doling out contracts, etc.
So it cost the U 6 million to get rid of Jane Meyer. it was worth every penny. Ding dong the wicked witch is gone. The woman was toxic to the athletic dept. The university should attempt to get a restraining order against her for no admittance anywhere on the university property.
While I don't agree with the "old, bigoted white men" part of Oks comment, it is hard to see how some of the posters here can be so offended when some have no problem making remarks like "They also mentioned that the money the two lesbo's will get would have been used somewhere in the athletic dept. now it won't. Meyer and Griesbaum better never show their ugly faces in Iowa City again".Wow!

That's the cost all together. Lawyers get more $$ than either individual in this case.
"The school agreed in settlements released Friday to pay Meyer $2.33 million, Griesbaum $1.49 million and $2.68 million to the Des Moines law firm that represented them."

As I said in another post, it was an embarrassment to the University to put a person with unquestioned integrity like Kirk Ferentz on the stand to talk about his problem with working with Meyer. That was not what her lawsuit was about. She was not fired because Kirk Ferentz and Tom Brands did not like her.
Guys on the radio think this move will save Barta's job. They also mentioned that the money the two lesbo's will get would have been used somewhere in the athletic dept. now it won't. Meyer and Griesbaum better never show their ugly faces in Iowa City again.

I have no idea what this means. Someone help me understand

Sure snowflakeHow do you know everyone who commented the way you don't like are old white men? You're stereotyping aren't you?
This was a classic match up: Entrenched 50's Era White Men vs. New Age Lesbians. The old school boys never knew what hit them. Like a pass on first down, this whole experience had to be pretty shocking to Gary and KF. I have to admit, if I were a lesbian I'd be sending resumes to all the athletic directors over 55 or 60 in America...oh, and to Fox News. You don't even have to get your toys dirty...they settle to stop the public image carnage.
In other news, according the milk carton I just bought at the store, the University of Iowa Human Resources Department is still missing and unaccounted for.
If they didn't approve the Meyer/Griesbaum relationship, it would have been just as bad, because Brian Ferentz (in his own words) reports to his dad on a day to day basis.
That would have definitely shown gender and/or orientation discrimination from the HR dept.
