I Like Tim Tebow

I missed the part where Kareem and Ali made public spectacles of their religion for all to see every chance they got. Maybe I'm too young to remember.

You're not too young. They weren't public zealots.
The only comparison that I can think of is that NBA basketball player with Tourette's who converted to Islam and then refused to stand or acknowledge the star spangled banner before games.
Dude was completely pilloried in the court of public opinion and by the press. Whitey christians hated on him with an intense fury.

fixed it for you...
Which is the deadly sin you fear most? Envy, greed, or sloth? Is it Because TT originated his prayer style of thanks, that is BTW, done off on the sidelines. How much donation and/or volunteer work do you do for third world countries and/or underprivileged? How do you personally use your day to day skills and platform to live to the best of your ability and still benefit yourself?

Fixed it for you.

I can see you have bought into this Tebow crap. I do volunteer work, I do give money that benefits people in 3rd world countries but when I talk to god I do it in the privacy of my own home not on the sideline of a football game where I know all the cameras are going to be on me. Remember all this goody goody stuff he is doing is paying off handsomely for HIM, not just his "benefactors".

You mean other than the fact that after they became public figures they changed their names so that every time you spoke, wrote, or thought about them you were forced to acknowledge their religions?

Maybe if Tebow changed his name to "Mister Whitey Righty Christian Pants" he'd be up on the their level.

Still waiting for responses to this question:
How would you feel about tebow if he was an atheist and exhibited the same zeal for atheism as he does for his chosen faith?

Anyone? Mr. Mashed Potatoes?? Colorado guy??

A better question might be how would YOU feel about him?

Well its kind of a silly question. Atheists don't believe in god, so it's not like they'd point to the sky and then slit their throats or something. My guess is an atheist would call attention to being an atheist by just doing what ever other dude does and not giving thanks to God, which I see a lot of on Sunday.

It wouldnt be anywhere close to what it is now. Saying that I will say that more people are atheist now then ever before. The dawn of the tech age where people have the world and facts at there fingertips and not feed one opinion there whole life has caused this.

So maybe people would feel the same about him? Idk.

So football player not giving thanks to God after a TD pass or long run are atheists? Really? Nice.

Chances are good that an atheist, Muslim, Wiccan, or whatever would not get anywhere near the TV attention that Tebow does.

Sidestep.
Answer the question, slick. How would you feel about an individual that signified his atheism every time he was in front of a camera, and including wearing eyeblack with "I'm an atheist" written on it?
Would the act grow tiresome very quickly? Would you find it annoying that he kept shoving his atheism in your face? Would you be sickened by a slathering media that constantly applauded this guy's displays of overt atheism?

Again, never really cared what people did to give their thanks (shy of human sacrifice) to their own maker/beliefs. It happens quite often in all of sports. (usually a sign of the cross before a free throw or an 'at bat', among others). These things only get exploited by the media or others because of the "true" haters in the world ( I believe you are actually more of a feather ruffler than a true hater). If Tebow was an atheist, while I wouldn't know what his personal exploits beyond football were, I'd still think he is a passionate winner and a leader in his occupation (and still can't throw a snap wrist pass). I would still be excited that he has taken the Broncos out of the absolute cellar and made them .500 just past the halfway point of the season.

Nothing better than the original post talking about someone being genuine, self-less, etc....and then lace it with a bunch of "F" bombs! Classic Duff. I have always liked Tebow, so **** you!

I just find it odd that Tebow goes directly against God's teachings:

“When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, forthey love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in thecorners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Mostcertainly, I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you pray, enter into your innerchamber, and having shut your door, pray toyour Father who is in secret, and your Fatherwho sees in secret will reward you openly."

You're all proving my point when I say that all topics with the word "Tebow" in the title should be moved to the P/C forum. Every week is getting ridiculous. At some point, you have to acknowledge that this isn't about Tebow any more. It's about you.
