I can't resist. Great Alford read

I initially thought he would get three years, but with the reception he has gotten so far, I agree with Thunder. Two years to retirement for Alf.

FIFY

And I really hope this happens and am stil welcome here on this board when it happens.

I am guessing that DG is the biggest Jim Mora, Jr. fan on the planet right now. A 10-2 campaign and a beatdown of USC would go a long way for DG right now......It might be enough to get him a pass on the Alford hire.

I don't think either of those will hapen.

GO HAWKS!!!

Three Final Fours didn't fix anything for Howland, bro. For crissakes, that guy won the PAC12 this year and got fired.

Alfraud's F'd. Two years max.

It goes way deeper than that. I was reading something a while back on UCLA and Howland, that AAU Coaches in California were steering players away from UCLA. Howland did something to **** the AAU programs off and he was having real issue recruiting Southern California. This started happening 2 or 3 years ago.

My BRO* bros tell me Ben was (and is still) viewed in Westwood as a brilliant coach, but an inept program and personnel manager, and personally quite stubborn. The key assistants from the Final-Four years left, who'd handled that stuff along with AAU relations. Ben didn't properly replace them, tried assuming those roles personally, and it's been a mess internally despite decent on-court results. The firing looks bad in light of the PAC championship but reasonable people were genuinely concerned for the future.

Alf has a better reputation than Howland among SoCal AAU coaches. For whatever reason.

there is a si.com article that flesh's this out - i posted it somewhere in these alfred threads. he offered a kid as a h.s. sophomore, the backed out and left the kid high and dry.

lick was the nerdy kid who sits by himself at the lunch table and may or may not have soiled his shorts. you really can't hate that kid. you just need to put him in a position where he can't harm himself or others.

alf was the all-conference kid who would tell anyone who would listen that he should have been all-state, the preacher's kid who drank beer in the parking lot, the kid who gave the licknerd wedgies in the locker room. there's a lot to hate there.

nominated for HN HOF

I doubt it would be enough on a sports network. Maybe if he worked on the Oprah Winnfrey Network or some other fashion first outlet.

I have to wonder if this will gain enough traction in LA to bring Alf down before he coaches a single game for the Bruins.

Sounds like Stevie called the Johnson County Prosecutor who prosecuted the Pierce case the other day to scream about some comments this now retired prosecutor made the other day.

Bryce Miller: Alford passes the buck, but don

The phone call happened shortly after Pierce's trial, not recently. But, that story is pretty similar to an experience a buddy of mine had a couple years ago after I posted some of his observations of Alford (he was a UNM manager at the time).

Any new info on SA come out?

If UCLA AD did not know this he should be fired.
If they fire SA now, he will be fired.

I will bet that SA has a 5yr+ run at UCLA right now. The man wins.

They extended Guerrero's contract to 2019 this week.

Please do elaborate.

Please do elaborate.

I warned my buddy about Alford when he told me he was going to be a manager (he planned to walk on after a year, too). He ended up leaving the program and basically confirmed everything I'd told him, and I posted that on here. Not long after that, he received a phone call from a rather angry Alford, in which Alford threatened to screw with my buddy's chance to play on the football team (he'd since walked on as a wideout), among other things.

So, two things can be taken from this.

1. Alford is an *******.
2. He had/has people trolling this site.
