Hmm. Maybe I'm Off My Rocker but.....

He averaged 13.8 PPG in PTL. Fran did mention at the Big10 media day that CW wasn't necessary a scorer. So I tend to agree that double figures is probably a little higher for him.

5656, do you EVER talk about anything else?? This has got to be at least the 5th time you've done this. Bad mouthed the PGs, wait for someone to back them up, reply with something about how they were lightly recruited, too small, barely played last year, or PG wasn't their natural position.

I talk about a lot of different things, saying our PG play is going to improved our CW is going to average 10+ ppg is just unrealistic though. I think Jok is going to average 20ppg, I think Cook will be 12ppg or even more but I don't get how people don't realize our PG is going to be worse than last year and our achilles heel for the season. I wasn't happy with our PG recruiting this most recent year and I'm going to respond when someone just expects it to be good

That is your opinion, some others see it differently. You may be right, and you've certainly stated your reasons why. But for some reason talking about it really makes you go, you bring it up in almost every thread.

I think Williams will score more points as a 1 than he would at the 3. It is a huge advantage to be that much longer than the guy guarding you. He wouldn't have that advantage at the 2 or 3.

Hey 5656, what are some reasons why it will be harder for him to score as a 1?

Because he's not a PG. Do you think Jok, Moss, Baer or Uhl would score more at the 1 than their natural position because of a length advantage?

Do you think CW will score more than Charlie Moore this year because of the length advantage?

I honestly think it's insulting to Fran, MG and Sapp to think we're going to upgrade the PG position this year with a player who barely played last year

I do think Jok could shoot over a point guard more often. Why compare Williams to Moore tho? I asked you to compare Williams to Williams and the only answer you could come up with is "because"? Are you 5? Give me an answer. What will his problems be scoring at the 1? I know why he will average more turnovers at the 1. I can even get on board with why he won't be as affective of a player at the 1. But why will he score less?

You can always find it insulting to say one player is better than another. Was it insulting to Uthoff was better than Gesell?

He's not a PG. If you're playing out of position you're less likely to do as well. I don't see CW as some knock down shooter that's just going to chuck over little tiny PG's. Do you think Uhl would score more at the 1?

It's insulting because if CW even had the potential to better than MG or Sapp this year he would have played a lot more. I don't think Fran was going to have him ride the bench all year if he had honorable mention all conference PG potential

Uhl might score more. Our team wouldn't do as good. But he might score more. Him playing out of position will have more negatives than positives probably. I just don't think scoring will be negatively impacted by him playing the one. I'm still waiting for thought out reasons why he won't score as much. Will he not be capable of scoring on opposing point guards? Will he be asked to pass more? Is he a better catch and shoot guy? What are your reasons?

I think a guy with his limited ability is better served having one big advantage than playing against someone with equal size AND more talent.

By your theory every average big guy should play the PG instead of his true position to have one big advantage. He's not going to be a double digit scorer wherever he's at on the court. Could he score 5ppg at the 1 instead of 4ppg at the 2 or 3? Maybe. He could also score more playing his natural position and I think he would. By playing out of position it's going to hurt more than it will help which is why I wanted a true PG in the 2016 class

So why will it hurt him? My theory is he might score more but he won't necessarily help the team much being there. He's all we got tho. Why would I prefer any average Joe hurting the team playing out of position for the sole purpose of scoring more?

My point is we will be better off with a true point but we don't have one so at least there is a bright side. I can't believe you can't give me a theory on why he would score less because he's out of position.

You think Uhl, CW, Jok and Baer would score more playing PG than they would playing their natural position. I don't understand that. I guess we have to agree to disagree

I think some players would score more playing out of position, some would score the same, and some would score less. It all depends on if your game could exploit the mismatch you would have. I think Williams is the kind of player who would benefit from having a slower quicker player guard him due to his slashing ability and mid range game. I just wish you would give a thoughtful response instead of saying the same thing over and over and bringing up random players that have nothing to do with the question I'm asking you. I honestly want to know why you think him playing the 1 will hinder his scoring.

What does this mean? Would benefit from having a slower quicker player guard him? I haven't seen enough from Williams do know how good his is at finishing at the rim or his mid range game. I honestly don't even know what his strengths are offensively. He shot 32% from the field last season

Why am I answering all your questions but you keep dodging mine. He had a handful of pull up mid range jumpers that looked natural for him.

What questions of yours am I dodging? I told you he may score more playing out of position or more score less, I really don't know. I don't think it helps the team playing guys out of position.

I don't know what it means when you say he would benefit from having a slower quicker player guard him

I guess you did concede that my bad. I've just seen you say he won't score much because he will be playing out of position so often it was hard to take that concede seriously.

A good 1 is normally quicker and shorter than a good 3. I think a good 3 could shut Williams down, whereas Williams could shoot over or use his length to drive by a good 1. It gives him more scoring options.

Or a good 1 who is quicker than a good 3 can stay in front of him or pick his pocket making it hard to take it to the rim.

He really didn't show us much that's he's a slasher or a mid range guy last year considering he actually shot better from 3pt land than he did from 2pt land and I don't think shooting 3's is his strength. I am hoping he can just give the ball to the scorers and play decent defense but there's just been such a small sample size to really know. I guess I'm just not as optimistic as others are. Just because your 6'5" with a long wingspan doesn't mean you're going to be good at any position, even defensively. What concerns me is he had that length out of HS and still didn't get recruited by major conference programs

I'm one that has a different opinion. He will average in double figures.
