"So everyone knows. Derrick is very smart and a special talent. To think that there is something else going on other than his fit into the offensive scheme. You are wrong."
That's a horrible statement from a football team and coaching standpoint. That shows underlying problems in the program and does not help potential recruiting one bit. Willes may be impatient because he's prob always played up until this point and has never had to sit & wait in his life. Too bad because he could be a significant contributor in the years to come.
So how did the story about his father come about? Ferentz not wanting to own up or DWJ not telling Ferentz the truth as to why he's leaving?

Let's not pass this onto a kid as his problem. The problem is he is talented and not getting the ball like he honestly should.. You see coaches getting playmakers the ball every Saturday, yet we want them to "sit and wait for the future"
I'm not saying that's what KF should do. I don't think he should be blowing smoke up ours butts either. What coach is going to come out and say "Yes, we should have utilized his skill set better to improve our team??" It's all PR from here on out. Damage control out of KF's mouth.
Offensive scheme is a terrible reason to leave mid-season. He could have used his limited playing time in the next 5 games to get ready to sell his skills to another school. Now he looks like a quitter, rather than just another transfer.
I'd be willing to bet anything that his leaving is not because he isn't getting the ball. It's because there is no hope for that to change because of the scheme and coaches. Add that to the fact that you think the guy on the field throwing the ball is adding to the problem and you have this situation. Again, just speculation on my part.
