He didn't miss that thread but people don't HATE Gabe. He isn't the NBA talent that Herby thinks he is as well as Indiana is a better team than Herby thinks they are.

My point was that when one side gets to over the top, it can make you take the other side even if you don't really agree with it.

True, very true.

Herby digs himself a hole and a very deep one. Once he gets to the bottom he starts name calling to defend himself.

Apparently he thinks two wrongs make a right. He isn't always the first one to resort to name calling but he still ends up doing it.

Appreciated Matt's contributions to Iowa hoops and sticking with his commitment to the black and gold when it would have been easy to bolt during the Lick years. But I don't see where he would have ccontributed much in Monday's game. I'm not even sure he would be a starter this year. As a whole package, there are five or six better players this year.

I am sorry but matt gatens would definitely start and play major minutes (30+) for this team. He would allow gesell and clemmons to split time at the point and develop with less pressure on them. He would also give this team a needed defensive stopper on the wing. Marble has shown glimpses but he hasn't shown the consistency that matt developed defensively. I like what gesell has done at the 2 and believe he is more 2 guard right now than pg but I am not sure he can become as good as possible if he is stuck playing the 2 his whole career. Also gatens at the 2 would have kept fran from using white at the 3 and making the team have to try to learn a new way of playing. Now they have pretty much scrapped that and shifted him almost completely to the 4 (his natural position).

In fact I will say that with a guy like matt we win against indiana and he wouldn't even have had to score a lot. With him oladipo has to be guarding him or marble when they are on the court and would have never been able to switch onto white. And that was big when he slowed white down for the time he did. He also would force the defense to be more spread out as there is no one on this roster who can stretch the defense with the 3 like he could.

Was matt the greatest ever? No but he would have had a huge impact on the game against indiana. And he would have done it in multiple ways and he wouldn't have needed to score a bunch to push iowa over the top. He wouldn't even have needed to take a lot of shots.

You attribute far too much to Gatens. He was a solid player with infrequent streaks of brilliance. But I never felt wholly comfortable with the ball in his hands or that his shot was anything close to automatic. Guess it would help me to pay closer attention to his game. I forget, which NBA team does he play for?

Maybe you should read what I wrote. I said he would stretch the defense...not that he had to shoot a lot or was consistent. I also attribute more than just his 3pt shooting to be a benefit.

So the only mark of a good player is making it to the nba? I never said he was automatic I said he would have helped in offense by giving a more legit 3 pt shooter and keeping oladipo busy with him and marble...giving white more openings. Plus he would be the best wing defender we would have.

But way to pull a herby and not pay attention.

Yeah. Because we have so many nba players on this roster. He would play. And not only would he play, he would start. And he would help our shooting immensely.

What shooter's shot is automatic and it's not like Gatens was a point guard or ball handler so he doesn't have the ball in his hand leading an offense.

Guy can shoot off the screen and play defense, put him on this years team and I'm willing to bet we are undefeated (or have at least 1 less loss) as two of our losses were close games where we struggled to hit shots and the other was one where we didn't play defense.

Supreme insult. I am deeply offended. Didn't your mother ever tell you to play nice in the sandbox?

I am sure Deanvogs was the type of kid who throw sand in the other kids face's. Then when she told him to stop, he said "Yes, mommy!" When continued to throw sand once she turned her back. Once she came back again he just replied "I wasn't throwing sand, that was in there from before you told me to stop!"
