Coach Woads "It's a load of crap"

Rhodes' "accent" almost sounds like he's from western PA or eastern OH. Where "pull" is pronounced "poo". Listen to the Stoops bros or Urban Meyers talk some time - they are all from that Youngstown area, I think. Or even Coach Ditka.

lol...............nice observation. Is Ditka gotten senile? By the way, Urban is really not aging well at all. Saw a picture of him yesterday. When he's 70, he'll look 120.

Coach Ditka has had multiple grippers and a couple of strokes too. Pls show some respect for The Legend. You should be so senile at his age after enduring the same challenges.

For sure. Bowl game and conference standing ought to be ISU's goal (and Iowa's). K-State, Tech, Tulsa, Kansas should all be much more important than Texas or Oklahoma because they're more doable (though after last week it appears Texas ain't "all that").

Unless the list is about "what would excite Clone fans the most". That's easy.

#1 Iowa
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Texas

Do you really believe that ISU fans would rather beat a bottom dweller of the Big 10 that they've beaten 2 years in a row than a ranked team in their own conference that they haven't beat since 1990? I think it's you that thinks a lot more about this series than most ISU fans.

Yes. Every year since the series renewed in 1977. Back then, Iowa was a straight up, perennial bottom dweller and Iowa State had some semblance of a football program. However, it was Iowa State who donned jerseys that said "Beat Iowa" on them that day, not the opposite. That attitude remains to this day. You can deny it, but it's true. Know your history.

If Iowa State wants any chance at going to a bowl game this year, there is no more important game for them than beating Iowa. Lose to Iowa, and ISU has no chance. That is why it is their most important game. That, and it allows one more lucky ISU fan to pay to have the score of the game imprinted on their personalized license plate.

If Iowa State wanted to go to a bowl uni was a must win. I agree that this year is as much of a Super Bowl as any other because bragging rights is all Iowa State is playing for at this point. That said iowa wins by 2 touchdowns.

This is absolutely true. Until ISU is competing for conference championships, it will continue to be true.

Those aren't really their options this year.

It is more like beat Iowa, or beat nobody.

There was an ex-ISU TE from CR on the local channel last night and he flatly stated that all the crap about Iowa being ISU's "superbowl" and the incentive to beat to beat their "big brother," Iowa, was absolutely true and the game was presented by the coaches in those terms.

It's 2013 Dorthy.

You probably think that ISU fans felt that ISU's win over Iowa in 2011 was bigger than beating #2 OSU. Some of you need to get over yourself and quit living in the past. For a few years there it was a big deal to beat Iowa because they were good. Those days are long gone.

As my friend Bruce Springsteen use to sing:
We just sit around talking about the old times, she says when she feels like crying, she starts laughing thinking about

Glory days
Yeah they'll pass you by, glory days

Except that's not true. ISU pretty much needs to beat Iowa to go to bowl game in every year. So it's a must win for them every year.

Kansas is also a must win for ISU each year to become bowl eligible. I get that ISU needs to beat the easy teams on their schedule. There is a difference between that and a "big" win.

The reality is that ISU is probably not going to go to a bowl game this year. With that in mind, I'll take an upset over a big dog in the conference over a team that you've already beat for the last 2 years and isn't very good.

I agree. I think ISU should lose this weekend and then beat OSU again.

Well it looks like Texas is falling apart at the seams that has a Paul Rhoads special written all over it..........If Greg Robinson runs the defense the way he did at Michigan ISU will be able to score some points granted if Sam Richardson is still healthy by mid October

I can't tell you how you really feel so I won't try. Maybe beating Iowa isn't as important to you, but if that's the case then you are a RARE breed of Cyclone fan. I think you're just pretending like this is how you feel because it makes you feel better about it, and because you know there's a good chance the Cyclones are gonna get beat on Saturday therefore it will be easier to swallow.

However, if your point is to be honest then you would admit that you realize beating Iowa is very important to the majority of the ISU fanbase. Most Cyclone fans go freaking insane when they beat Iowa. If you can't admit that then you're only fooling yourself.
