Come on guy, you know ISU single handedly ended the BCS and started the college football playoffs. No one was pushing for this before that game, no one. Only a program with momentum like ISU had can make that kind of difference.

I like Rhoads, but after ISU got that win in 2011 in Ames, he was on the Interstate sign absolutely going crazy. I thought he was going to have a heart attack or blow a gasket.

Similarities were abound actually if you take the time to look at it. Both teams were coming off of crappy bowl-less seasons. Both teams started the year struggling. Both teams needed that win to get to six. Iowa fans were wondering if Kirk remembered how to win a big game while ISU fans were wondering if Puaw knew how to win one. I think they look pretty similar to me in all honesty.

Are you sure about that? Most of your brethren on CyFan are saying without the Iowa win ISU is looking at most a three win season. Seems this game would be very important at a time when ISU had "momentum" and all of the sudden the wheels came flying off. A win over Iowa would be a nice feather in your cap on a four win season would it not?

Of course a win is important. But not locker room video important. Im sorry, but this game just isnt what some of you think it is. (Superbowl) Thats a tired excuse for losing.

I'm not so sure. Something like that would be great to rally the plethora of ISU fans during a down year. You know, make them want to go "all in" again next season even though this season looked like a flaming dog turd.

Funny, because I would normally agree with you regarding the Super Bowl comment, but I actually disagree with you this year. There's a reason both Hawkeye and Cyclone beat writers plus a handful of other sports analysts said this game is the most important game on both ISU and Iowa's schedule this year. It's a winnable game for both teams. Winnable games are going to be hard to come by this year which significantly raises the importance. Not to mention the fact it's a rivalry game. I think this game is as important as it has ever been for Iowa. If the Hawks lose to Iowa State after UNI just beat them.... boy I won't even know what to think.

Right, again, a win is a must. But I wont reduce to it means more to us than it does to Iowa. It means a **** ton to both for salvation of a season when our conferences both look to be a nightmare for our young teams. I just hate that Superbowl analogy. Are we essentially saying the same thing? I dunno.
