Coach Woads "It's a load of crap"

As an ISU fan that hasn't missed a home game in 15 years, here is my list on important wins this year:

#1 Oklahoma -Haven't beat them forever
#2 OSU
#3 TCU
#4 Baylor
#5 Texas
#6 Kansas State
#7 West Virginia
#8 Iowa
#9 Texas Tech
#10 Tulsa
#11 Kansas

Even though I think Texas Tech may be better than Iowa, I'd still rather see ISU beat Iowa. I still don't know how good WV is but I'd like to get the first win over them. This is just my take on level of importance.

If I was a hawkeye fan I would probably only put Western Michigan, Missouri State, and possibly Northern Illinois as games that are less important than ISU.

I think part of it is the upset factor. I don't think fans on either side will be surprised if the other team wins. On the other hand I would be extremely shocked if ISU beat a team like OU and I'm sure Iowa fans would be surprised if they beat Ohio State.

If Iowa State wants any chance at going to a bowl game this year, there is no more important game for them than beating Iowa. Lose to Iowa, and ISU has no chance. That is why it is their most important game. That, and it allows one more lucky ISU fan to pay to have the score of the game imprinted on their personalized license plate.

Dear god, I have not lived in Des Moines for over 10 years now and had no idea Fales and Miller were still doing sports on nbc. That is sad....didnt Fales get hired in KC as some point and quit because he couldn't hack it?

Big fish, small pond I guess.

You're right this week but the same can be said for the Kansas, Tulsa, WV, KSU, etc. games.

Their show is pretty entertaining, but if you are looking for sports knowledge/insight, it is not the place to go.

Nothing against those guys. I just think they are so boring.

I just now realized that this thread says "Coach Woads". I thought it said "Coach Woods", referring to LaVarr Woods.

This makes it even more funny. I'll bet ol' Paul got so angry his teeth went sideways.

I think this game is just as important to Iowa. It maybe more for Iowa. Three straight losses to Iowa State would be a sign that the program is back to the 2000 level. As an I Iowa fan I want this game more than ever.

So you consider this game to be Iowa's Super Bowl this season?

(For the record, I desperately want Iowa to win in Ames, too.:))

I do. It is easier for ISU fans to slump back into their whole of sucktitude, because it is a much shorter walk for them, but if Iowa loses this game, it solidifies that the 4-8 team of a year ago is the current norm, and not the exception. That would not be cool.

Well stated. I agree.

As someone who has a lisp myself, would it be too much to ask you and the rest of the jackals on here to stop making fun of his speech impediment?

When you have a lisp, do you know you have lisp? And I'm not trying to be a smart-butt here either. Or does it just sound perfectly natural to you?

Like when someone else has an accent. You notice it, but they feel it is you who has the accent, not them.

This makes no sense.................NVM

I really never notice Rhoads having a lisp i thought it was more of a stuttering issue. I am not trying to clown dude or make fun of him i just noticed an occasional stutter.

Sounds normal to me. Had no idea until HappyChef was talking about me and she said "oh yeah, I know him, he's the guy with the lisp" and then HappyChef told me I have a lisp.

I don't know about "Super Bowl" but for Iowa's program it's a crucial game to win. Not so much because "it's Iowa State", although that's always nice, but because after this week the wins will be even harder to come by.

And yeah... I also thought it was coach Woods until noticing this morning. Which makes the OP truly hilarious. Coach Woads doth protesteth too much, methinks.

For sure. Bowl game and conference standing ought to be ISU's goal (and Iowa's). K-State, Tech, Tulsa, Kansas should all be much more important than Texas or Oklahoma because they're more doable (though after last week it appears Texas ain't "all that").

Unless the list is about "what would excite Clone fans the most". That's easy.

#1 Iowa
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Texas

Don't know about a lisp, OK4P is the resident expert on that, but in the interview he said "RIVALRY" and it sounded like R-EYE-ROH-WEE. I found it odd because I have never heard folks from Ankeny struggle with a word like that.

People from Ames struggle with it all the time. Snagz done gone native.
