Alex Kozan??

Colorado has a number of great offensive linemen this year. OSU got OConner, who we also recruited after he de-committed from PSU. Nebraska got a real blue-chipper out of there this year also.
Ignorance is no excuse for spouting off like some on this thread....just pipe down.

Right. You all are talking HS recruits. I am talking, how many go on? The qb that got brought up, by chance is that Jacks boy? If so he was imported as what a SR in HS? CO is not a strong state when it comes to ball. If it was the Buffs would have never been bottom of the b12/pac12. Look no futher then to the NFL then to prove my point. Yes some HS kids come out of there, but most dont make it. How many Buffs in the NFL?
I know more then a few people in CO, they are Iowa and Braska fans, so when they tell me who's who, I listen, as they coach and watch these kids play. I am not impressed with the HS programs out there and would even go as far as to say, they are better here, from what I hear.
Point is, I know people there and I know people here. Like I said if you want a gentlemens agreement, name your terms.

You guys ruined this thread, we were having so much fun with it.

Back on topic! Have you heard about this Kozan guy? He might come to Iowa! :D

I think it's funny to see some Hawk fans getting a sour grapes defense all prepared and ready to go. Some have already rolled it out. I know a lot of people on this board think that the average HS kid doesn't have a brain, but the fact is if this kid is seriously committed to Iowa then he should be commended for taking his time to see how the coaching staff turns out. This has a huge bearing on his career if he chooses Iowa.

So, while it may be hard to believe, it's completely possible that the kid isn't simply grandstanding for media attention or being a drama king, but rather waiting patiently to see who the Iowa hire is so that he can make an informed decision.

I don't follow recruiting very closely. So forgive me for asking. But are we holding a scholarship for him?

Really, how many people do you know in CO? How many caoches? Hey I have idea einstien, why dont you look at how many Buff's are in the NFL.
I know more then a few people out there, and a few coaches. So ah yeah when they tell me who's who and what kind of D1 talent they have, I listen. I will say the people I know are Iowa or Braska fans, so they judge the talent on that, not the Buffs program.

Like I said if you want to make a gentlemens agreement, lets hear your terms. If you think you know more then me, lets hear it. Maybe I heard it wrong. Maybe you are a better judge of talent, I dont know. Or are you going by the "stars" system?

lol You know a few people out here and a few coaches? Congrats! You guys call each other and chat about CO high school kids often? That's cute. Those Nebraska fans must not like their recent OL recruit from CO, I suppose. I bet OSU hates theirs. They must know the Kozan family and have seen him workout to know that he isn't hard working.

There is a lot of talent in the state this year and hardly any of it is going to CU. So I'm not sure looking at CU is the best way to judge talent in a state. But if you are judging in-state talent based on CU, they have a NC in their trophy case.

I'm still not sure where your "gentlemans agreement" is coming from. I never said Kozan was going to be an all-pro. I'm saying you have no clue as to if he is a primadonna or if he isn't hardworking. You are making that **** up, and you know it. So save us the lecture of who you know and how smart you are, because no one here believes you, and for good reason. You are a joke.

I wish to clarify. I may of came off a little hard on the kid.
I have family and friends in CO, NE, IA and ILL. In all those states either my family or close friends, coaches at some level. In doing so, they are more plugged into the local talent then I am. I have watched HS ball in all those states, as I support my family and friends in their efforts and I like watching ball anyway. I have not seen Kozan play, nobody I know coached or coached against him, but they have seen him play.
I was told to "temper my expectations even if he signs with the Hawks". Take that for what it is worth.
Back to the programs in those states. There is a reason everyone poaches ILL so hard. Many of those HS programs are head and shoulders above many in the other states. Infact I have personally told players I have watched out there, they should walk on at Iowa. Given how much school costs these days, that is a hard sell. They have some excellent talent out there, but they also have alot of good coaches that I have met.

I have never said CO was a better football hotbed than Illinois. They have a lot more talent in the state than Iowa does, however.

You make arguments and use things that fit your argument no matter if I ever mentioned them at all. You bring up Keppy, Illinois, the Buffs, and the NFL out of NOWHERE. It's embarrassing.

Have some fun with this link olddude.

NFL Players Born in Colorado

I like how this discussion persists in the direction of how much talent Colorado has ever had...as if that somehow directly pertains to whether Kozan will be successful or not.

Oldman likes to change topics often...and then randomly bet you on things that you never discussed. He's awesome.

you can look at this several ways;
If a pair of dice is rolled and the number comes up 2 three times in a row, what is the probability that the next roll will be 1?

Well, I think at one level he is trying to say that HS football in Colorado isn't the greatest talent pool, so can we really take Kozan at face value based on that fact? That's a somewhat valid point. However, to pretend that the scouting sites and critics haven't taken that into consideration is absurd. I think that's partially why he is rated where is right now.

Regardless, the kid is worthy of a scholarship at Iowa, whether he is over-hyped or not. And, as I made the point earlier, criticizing the kid as an attention seeker or drama kind is a bit premature. If he is sincerely considering Iowa then waiting to see who ends up being the OC/DC hire is a very reasonable reason to wait to make a decision.
