2012 Recruiting Class

no i am not putting unreal expectation on him, he will be the 5th option for scoring but the 1st option in getting rebounds and altering shots either by blocks or just having the height advantage of being 6'10 with a long wing span of a 7', with this team trying to avg 80+ points per game as the 5th option, it is not that hard to see him get 8-10 pts, this is not the Lick offense that barely got 40-50 a game, and are lucky to have one dbl digit scorer, this will be a offense that could and should have 4-5 dbl digit scorers, unless you see Gatens and Basabe avging 30 ppg each, in a uptempo game it is better to have 6-7 players that can avg dbl figure it makes it awful hard to shut the team down when anyone can score rather than have just one scorer where teams can play a box and one defense and then force the rest of the team to beat them, by your thought process he can't be a 5th option in a high scoring offense, lose the mentality of seeing scores in the 40-50 with one dbl didit scorer, unreal expectation on a kid is seeing him lead either the team or league in scoring, that is a unreal expectation i look for him to be the 5th option on the team and a starter because of who he is competing against for the center spot

Iowa was 222nd in the nation in scoring last season. 67 PPG. They had 3 dbl-digit scoring averages among players (Matt, Mel, and Bryce). Assuming those 3 do the same this year (and why not) - how is Olaseni going to put up 8-10 points as well, when you have Marble, McCabe, and May getting PT? Not to mention Brommer, who will likely start.

Seriously, your expectations are off the charts for Gabe. Iowa's leading rebounder didn't even grab 7 a game last season. Yet you think Gabe can go 8-10 pts / 8-10 rebs this season...

Cole got 8 of those pts as the center and expect Olaseni to be the starter at center and i think the team will come closer to getting to 80-85 ppg

my excitement for the team to imporve in all aspects is greater than yours, i see Fran more like Dr.Tom in running a offense & defense and like Lute as a recruiter, you talk like we have a Lick type coach that's into a low scoring game

can't find the dates but i did find he competed in the Adidas National AAU camps, so i guess he got to show his skill to scouts, therefore got evaluated, Adams that is

There is not talking sense with Sir Dragon. I guess, Iowa will only be playing 5 players in their rotation.
The reality of it is, there are many more skilled offensive players that are going to play on the roster this season. I am not sure that Cole would average 8 pts this year.
Iowa is a developing team and I expect everyone to put up better numbers and the freshman contribute when the opportunity presents itself. There are multiple returning players that will improve enough to take Cole's pts. I hope that Gabe just rebounds and blocks shots, don't care what his numbers end up being, but that he is a contributor.

in talking with Seinna fans on their website. even with a full roster he kept the rotation to 8-9 players ussually 8, i really don't care if you like me or hate me, or even want to agree, its no sweat, what i find interesting is how many suck-up are quick to defend the mighty stormin, he came back with a Foriegner to refute my question about how somebody from Europe that doesn't play in any AAU events againt the best get rated, his response was a epic fail , so until we see Olaseni play nobody can form an opinion, other than those that have seen him, and not just the ptl, the people i know actually been around the BB world, have been around the block a few times, so i will just be content in taking their opinion over a supposedly internet Guru, and try to relay their thoughts on players

80-85 points per game?

Are you seriously just clowning around to get a rise out of people?

80-85 points per game, raising their average almost 20 points from last season. Really?

Do you know how many D1 teams averaged 80-85 points per game? Eight. Eight in the entire nation, while two averaged over 85 (Oakland and the offense-only team of VMI). Ten teams in the nation averaged more than 80 points. 335 teams did not. I think it's safe to say Iowa will be in the group of 335 next season as well.

Come on, dude. Just stop. It's borderline embarrassing.

Cant we just agree to disagree, actually what isnt there to like about the mighty stormin, he lives in mn, drinks beer, fishes and golfs, and loves the Hawkeyes, whether he is right or wrong I appreciate his posts, I hope you are right about Gabe but I think it may take a yr or so, Go Hawks!

Oklahoma brought Olaseni in and didn't offer him. (Oklahoma is going to be turrible, BTW)

Fast forward and you've got a guy predicting 10 and 10 (granted, it's one guy).

It's the joy of message board world.

If I remember correctly Oklahoma got a commitment from another center shortly after that visit.

they did, so they were filled, Xavier, who's ussually in the top 25 offered as well as Auburn and Ol Miss offered, so he got 3 BCS offers and a team that get's into the top 25 on a regular basis, in fact Xavier thought they had him, and i repeat i did not state he would be a 10-10 player "I said he could avg [8-10 pts] and {8-10 rbs}" and there is a hell of a big difference between the 2 statements,

I wasn't aware Olaseni was in the 2012 recruiting class. Move along.
