Hawkeyes in the NFL: Cut Down Day

thanks for posting this info, Jon. i'm interested in this kind of stuff but haven't the time or patience to go track it down. It's settled. Iowa = NFL incubator.

Gotta appreciate Coach Lick's Classy Attitude

Iowa's downfall began with Alford, not Lickliter, dude. Alford routinely threw his own players under the bus. Alford also didn't take the high-road once he left town but instead threw mud at the program. You may not care about Alford's personality, but he was the most loathed coach in modern...

Gotta appreciate Coach Lick's Classy Attitude

Lickliter was a breath of fresh air after suffering through Alford's pig-headed ego for too many years. Glad to see Todd taking the high road on this one. He wasn't the right fit for Iowa, end of story. Hopefully with Fran, Iowa is finally going to be able to wrestle itself out of the karmic...

    Cooper Twitter

Silly question here, but why do they fly players into Moline rather than CR? I'd think they'd want them on campus sooner than later after getting off a plane. 19 miles vs. 70 miles of the Iowa tundra.

    Big Ten logo

Random Google finds... Agree with what someone said earlier, Delaney probably wanted to avoid incorporating a number this time since there's no predicting where the expansion thing ends in the long run.

    Big Ten logo

Yeah, it did - which was a clever way of incorporating the 11 teams while retaining the Big '10' name. The new logo, you'll notice, does not include a nod to twelve at all. Instead, it repeats '10' twice. Is it really that hard to grasp the difference there?

    Big Ten logo

I don't give 2 flips about the logo one way or another but it does miss the cleverness of the logo after Penn State's arrival in the league. For example - that logo contains 2 iterations of 'Ten'. So it reads Big TEN TEN.

    Iowa/Missouri in Insight NOT Nebraska???

Taking the glass half-full approach, with three weeks to prepare maybe Iowa can finally figure out a way to stop that kind of offense. Hell, they only beat Iowa State 14-0.

    Screw you, Big Ten Network

Portland, OR Direct TV here -- had DVR set to record and nothing was there at all -- didn't record whatever substitute program they had running. Effers. Did subscribe and watch the web stream, quality wasn't the best but was better than nothing.

    New unis

Isn't it typical with a change of regime that the uniforms get changed as well? I know Alford did so and went a step further by changing the court, too. On the one hand, I'd like to see them change -- the diamond pattern on the side smacks of high-school all-star game. On the other hand --...

    Kirk post game

Obviously we're not privy to the details of Kirk's personal life - so hard to say if there's something there fueling the emotion as well. As an outside observer - you have to point to Norm Parker being at the game and the battle he's waging as an influence. Having his son snap at center is...

    KF and Staff strong game!!

So impressed with Ferentz this week. First of all he's humble enough to fess up to his mistake and then bold enough to show he wasn't just whistling platitudes when saying they had to do a better job as coaches and get out of the players way. I was a little worried when he didn't yank Stanzi and...

Don't Look Now, but Sparty Could Go 12-0

why don't you just incorporate this into your sig file and save yourself the trouble of reposting it in every single michigan state post for the next several weeks. also, get a room with them already.

24 won't do it in Ann Arbor

ever hear the phrase 'if you don't use it, you lose it'? you make valid points, and it may yet work out to Iowa's advantage. my concern is when they try to go for more of the deep stuff and variety on offense - the timing won't be there because they haven't actually run it through at game speed...

    Quotes about DJK

we're really missing solid entertainment value in this years player interviews. listening to stanzi, robinson and sash give the same locked-down pro forma college-football-speak answers week after week is yawn inducing and pales in comparison to angerer's monologues. no offense to those players...

School Colors are Black and OLD GOLD, not YELLOW.

Agree with you on the Steelers knock-off look. Have never liked that. Worked for Hayden but is time to move on. Keep the tigerhawk and blend in more traditional elements that actually speak, rather than negate, Hawkeye history. Loved the throwbacks yesterday.

    Penn State Two Deep Changes

just curious, does Murray's injury in any way go back to that endzone run against Georgia Tech or is this something completely unrelated??

Miller: Iowa Regents Throw Tantrum Over Ferentz

A voice of reason appears. While I'd personally be okay with UI writing Ferentz a blank check, Iowa is a state school, not an independent pro sports franchise. Much of the response in this thread thus far has been little more than reactionary political blather. Is 'waaahhhh' what passes for an...

    Millers stadium introduction

Thanks for the words on Sash. Good to hear he's still a menace - was definitely wondering about that. Difficult to see him blowing folks up when the TV camera only follows the ball.
