    Nebraska's scheduling-big advantage

How did the Big Ten decide Nebraska would get it's bye week the second to last week of the season headed in to a "rivalry" game when Iowa will have to play on short rest. Explain that one to me, Delaney.

Is an envelope stuffed with cash considered a recruiting violation?

    2014 basketball class

As JHHawk mentioned, I am inside the school. I speak with him almost every day, always pumping up Fran, the program, and Iowa City in general. He's a really good kid. No ego about him. Impressive to say when this week Izzo, Painter, Brad Stevens, Craig Robinson and Fran were all through to...

I am hearing Ulis is Fran's to lose at this point. Izzo poking around but rubbing the family the wrong way.

    Comparing Withey and Woodbury

Woodbury is not close to the athlete Withey is. Also Woodbury seems to have an unwarranted arrogance to him when the only thing he has proven on the court is that he's incredibly soft. I hope he proves me dead wrong and dedicates him to the weight room this summer, but right now he has a sense...

    The Selection Committee

I will preface this by saying I don't think Iowa is making the tournament, but.... What ever did happen to the eyeball test? Has the selection committee just beome totally reliant on rpi and statistics rather than actually watching these conference tournament games? If so that is just...

    Iowa, the bubble, and Liberty

So basically you want all the small conferences to reward their bid to the season winner and the big conferences to have their tournaments so they can get more teams in? Not going to happen. If small conferences are not going to be considered at all why bother even involving them in the process?

    Iowa, the bubble, and Liberty

You can't have it both ways. You can't need conference tournaments to try and build your resume and then say it's not fair when an underdog wins one. Nobody here would have ever complained if Iowa had won the BTT in '02 when they didn't deserve the bid.

    Iowa needs 3

Goes to show you how much the scheduling matters. Neutral court games against even mediocre teams probably would have given this team a boost in that regard. Southern Miss really hasn't beaten anybody impressive, but it does seem like they scheduled at least enough respectable opponents to get...

    Iowa, the bubble, and Liberty

Of course not, but by that logic then the tournament should be exclusively for the power 6 conferences.

    Iowa, the bubble, and Liberty

Exactly. A team like Liberty getting in doesn't bother me. If you are good enough during the season the conference tournament and what other teams do shouldn't matter. In a masochistic way I kind of like the unknown of being on the bubble. It makes it more exciting. Last time Iowa was...

    Iowa, the bubble, and Liberty

I agree that it is kind of b.s., but that being said Iowa and all other bubble teams have the same opportunity to win their conference tournaments as well.

    Lunardi's Latest after Sundays Games

Can't agree more. Stockpiling wins in the Sun Belt should not be rewarded over playing in a tough league. So basically Iowa is being punished for winning a bunch of soft non-conference games and Mid Tenn is being rewarded for winning soft conference games? Makes no sense. I'm not saying Iowa...

    Lunardi's Latest after Sundays Games

Looks like the Mid Tenn loss just dropped Iowa a spot according to Lunardi.

    RPI up to 71

My gut feeling is that they have a strong showing. Not sure how many games they'll win, but I think they are playing with confidence right now.

    RPI up to 71

I just have a feeling that the selection committee is going to look at Iowa on paper much more than the team that they currently are. All this being said, beating MSU will be a very tall order. Hell, it's Iowa. Losing to Northwestern wouldn't shock me. However it unfolds, even being able...

    RPI up to 71

Both South Dakota and Western Kentucky losing right now, not that it really matters either way. I was thinking earlier this week that two wins this weekend would do it, but now it seems like it's got to be three.

    RPI up to 71

Hawks now in second slot of "next four out" by Lunardi as well. Moved up a couple spots since this afternoon.

    Lunardi Last 4 In 3/9 4:00 pm

Correction, one of the top 4 teams in the league. They did beat Wisconsin.

    Lunardi Last 4 In 3/9 4:00 pm

I totally agree. It's seeming more and more like Iowa is going to need to win 3 games in the Big Ten Tournament to get in. If you really closely look at their resume it really falls short. Their non-conference schedule was so soft, many of those small conference foes went on to have horrible...
