Watching games I see two things- Very poor tackling and very poor secondary play. I see receivers running free with no one near them. Also very poor fundamentals utilized in tackling. I am worried about our pass rush the first 2 weeks.
First- 3rd year players and Seniors will be in draft mode. Many will not risk injury. Secondly after the season ends they have less than 3 months until the next season begins. Many players will require surgery. I feel in the end it is way too much wear and tear on the bodies.
Nebraska is returning the entire OL I think. However only 1 WR. and one of the incoming WR's is out for the year. The trick is for Martinez to stay healthy. If the Wr's play well he has a chance if not he will get beat up and he becomes much less effective in my opinion then.
They are could run and all could shoot. The Fieldhouse would rock when everyone was stomping their feet on the old metal bleachers. My dad had tickets just 4-5 rows behind the visiting coach, I learned new words as a young man.
DJK never really addressed the problems he had and from what I heard at the time it was with virtually every coach- repeatedly. His relationship with Kirk and Doyle were due to repeatedly having run ins with them.
If the OLine can protect the pass game will open things up for the running game. I think the D will need to blitz more to get pressure though. I have personally talked to 2 people who saw Petras last fall. they both said he is the real deal.
Talked to a former center for Iowa. He said the Michigan game and PSU game the D did things due to our inexperience at center. This caused him problems getting the right call for the line. He said it will pay dividends in the future. Inexperience was taken advantage of.
Degree is #1 and football #2. Him and family are well grounded. Iowa does have a major close to what he wants but he has enough choices he does not need to make that compromise.
I have a sibling who lives in the same town. They are friends with the family. He is selecting his school based upon his major- Iowa does not have it. Secondly it is football. Just an FYI.
With everyone at home streaming is very high and internet is very high. We have had several reports on the news- except it on and off until people go back to work.
