Williams will never play point guard exclusively after this year so if he ends up on an all conference team, you will just say it wasn'tat point since he had minutes at other positions too. Kinda like Marble in his career. He played a lot of point and made all conference teams. But it's easy to argue he didn't make them as a point guard, even tho he played a ton of minutes there.
Williams would be better suited for a 15 mins per game back up for the 2/3 spot. He had 8 turnovers when I stopped counting.
It won't fly against BIG teams. Not enough to get up a top half finish in the league. 7-10 maybe. Which is enough for most of the people here.
Watched Bohannon for a few trips and he is not a PG.
I don't know what we are gonna do at the 1.
You said Williams will be a better PG than Mike ever was and now you're saying he won't play PG after this year?
You do understand what a combo guard is, correct? If you do then you are trying to spin what he is saying.
Who's going to play PG then?
Don't tell me what I'll say, IF CW manages to do the impossible.Williams will never play point guard exclusively after this year so if he ends up on an all conference team, you will just say it wasn'tat point since he had minutes at other positions too. Kinda like Marble in his career. He played a lot of point and made all conference teams. But it's easy to argue he didn't make them as a point guard, even tho he played a ton of minutes there.
You are literally the only person I have read on all the hawk sites that is ripping on CW in this manner and who also doesn't point out he had 18 pts and 12 rebounds
I'm not ripping on him! He's a very capable 3. How is that ripping on him? I'd rip on Shaq's ability to play PG at the college level! That doesn't mean I don't like Shaq's basketball skills or his contributions on the court. Why is that so hard for you to understand? You're digging deep to try and turn me into the villain. All its doing is making you look like the village idiot.
You have decided after 1 PTL game we don't have a PG at all. That neither is capable of playing PG. That is throwing the babies (CW and Bohannon) out with the bath water. Actually you made this judgement before tonight pretty much, but have just decided to throw both PG out with the bathwater for sure after 1 PTL game.
I am NOT doing the same thing, as I have NOT made a good or bad judgement on either CW or Bohannon. Quote my post where I say either will be great, or that either are terrible PG's.
You can act indignant all you want, and tell yourself that I am doing the same as you, but I am not. You sound like a buffoon declaring absolutes about players after 1 PTL game. Heck, I'm sure you also told us that Marble could never play PG after his first PTL game, that Fleming was going to be a super star after 1 PTL game, because a dudes first PTL game tells us everything we need to know about a player.![]()
I understand what Fran is going to attempt to do on offense. He's going to rely on motion and ball movement to minimize the fact that we don't have a true PG. And that's fine at the high school and AAU level. But BIG coaches will pressure and trap the weakest ball handlers. The worst passers. They'll clog the cutting lanes and hold players off of the ball to take the motion out of the offense. That leaves less than average ball handlers and less than average passing guards with few options and the inevitable"hero ball" failure.
2 guys. Sapp and Mike both handled the ball better than any current player on our roster. And we still ended up playing Hero Ball at the end of close games , down the stretch. One guy is a little worse of a ball handler as Mike last year and it's going to make us have to hero ball?
Geez. Some people have short memories. How can anyone here forget Mike Gesell's last second isolation plays? Lol.
We'll see. I know from experience that it's much easier to defend a bunch of average guards running an offense, than it is to defend a quality PG.I think it will be much different with 4 other scoring threats on the court. Many of the late game situations last year happened because the legit scorers were unable to get open. Additionally, if our PG can make his own shot, is that really a problem?
How would you have felt if Mike had finished out more games like he did against MSU at home this season or at NC the year before?
