Watching the PTL games

Being a better 3 pt shooter doesn't mean you're a better scorer.

Being a really good 3 point shooter almost always means you will be a better scorer than Gesell was. His points per minute played had to be one of the worst in the conference for players who averaged at least 10 minutes per game.

Fair enough. I'd wager $1,000 that Bohannon averaged at least 5 more points per game than Gesell in their respective college careers when Bo graduates.

You really think Bohannon is going to average 13+ ppg in his college career?

Not always, but having parking lot range and the ability to consistently make 3s will open up more driving lanes for a player with less athletism, compared to a player who isn't willing to shoot outside shots so the defense just sags off.

Surely someone who knows as much about basketball as you do would understand that.

Josh was a much better shooter than Mike and he averaged less points per minute than Mike. Plus Josh is a lot bigger than Bohannon is

Bohannon is a guy the other team is going to have to think about defensively when he is in the game. I think he will score his points, but he will also open the offense up for a lot of the other players. There appears to be a lot more guys that will be able to score compared to previous years. If Fran can develop the players for his system early this year, they will give other teams defenses fits.

I think he is talking about in his respective year. IE Bohannon will avg. 13 PPG his Sr year, not 13 PPG over his career.

That would be more realistic but that would be surprising. I don't think he'll ever be much more than a role player but hopefully he proves me wrong. I think CW could get up close to that by his Sr year though, especially if he moves to play off the ball

I am far more confident in CW's ability to finish at the rim than I was with Gesell. It was beyond frustrating watching MG consistently miss/turn it over/throw it away at the end of games. I have no problem with CW turning it over more if it means he's also being a playmaker.

I think it is easy to see what style a player is from watching even just a short period of them playing. As soon as CW came into games he attacked, even though he had little to now game experience. I think that is just his style. Just like you could tell right away that Gesell was more of a facilitator than scorer.

It is two different styles is all. While I like Gesell and what he brought, as others have pointed out he was limited offensively. This year we will have CW who is more of a natural attack the basket kind of player who will turn it over more than Mike did.

To keep saying things like "why do you think he will do it this year" is kind of silly though. Why did Marble jump from 6 PPG to 12 PPG as a Fr to So. why did Jok jump from 7 PPG to 16 PPG last year? It is a combination of being a year older, and a bigger role on the team as other players move on. Lots of new players are going to get time now since we lose 115 of the 200 MPG to graduating Sr. Several players are going to be scoring lots more than last year.
I love it! I'm not capable of determining the quality of a PG by watching 1 PTL game but you can tell how good of a scorer a player can be by watching 1 PTL game.
It's posts like this that cause your credibility to be questioned by me and many others.
You can't have it both ways, Deano.

Yet you're comfortable claiming neither of them can play point...

Keep contradicting yourself numb nuts.
Todd Lickliter can play point....he just won't play it very well. Neither will CW or Bohannon .
Offensive efficiency, low team turnovers and high team assists are hallmarks of a good PG. We'll see how those numbers look for this team, in BIG play.

I was responding to a different poster who wants it both ways. Unless of course you are that poster?
