Watching the PTL games

Yes I think we are still an NIT team along with a lot of other fans. I posted PTL stats because PCHawk used them in trying to defend Williams before. They are meaningless and my thoughts haven't changed on WIlliams at all and wouldn't have if he averaged 35 points per game in the PTL.

Fair enough. I have no problem with the NIT prediction, it's reasonable. I don't even have a problem with being skeptical of CW, no one really knows at this point, it was just the way that you made some of your arguments that bothered me.

Anyways I really liked what I saw from the guys in PTL, and I'm excited for the season. I think we could have something really special in Cook and it will be interesting to see how the rotation comes together.

I think the PG position is going to be our biggest weakness this year. I don't know if that's what I said that bothered you but I think it's a pretty realistic opinion

Williams is going to be a great point guard for Iowa. This team doesn't have the experience of last years team, but they seem to have a much higher ceiling. I can see them easily making the NCAA tournament. They are going to be a lot deeper than last years team.

I'm encouraged by Cook/Pemsl/Kriener. If we get good production from the 4/5 spots, it will lesson the pressure on CW at PG. We won't do well if other teams are allowed to trap and pressure our guards without fear of being beat down low.

The bigs coming into the college game are a lot more experience than they were a few years ago. The coaching staff has the ability now to work with them in the summer. They all look to be big, thick, and talented. All three have demonstrated the ability to shoot the basketball. The center, power forward, and small forward positions are going to be deep and talented. I'm sure they will be good next year, but they should be pretty good this year. Both Clemmons and Gesell were solid college players, but neither one of them are highly thought in the professional ranks. I think Williams, Moss, Jok, Dailey, ect. will be more than capable of replacing them. Both Gesell and Clemmons were both around six feet tall whereas Williams, Moss, Jok, Dailey are all at least six foot five. I think these guys should be fun to watch. Uhl and Wagner are both going to be thicker, stronger, and more experienced than last year. It will be interesting to see how Baer fits into the equation.

Williams, Moss and Daily are capable of replacing them because they aren't highly thought of in the professional ranks. Interesting, especially considering both were very good defenders too

I wouldn't be surprised if either Pemsl or Kreiner redshirted, we have a lot of bigs. But yes it if teams start pressuring us it will be a total team effort in handling the pressure.

You really think Bohannon is going to average 13+ ppg in his college career?
I would say he seems to be on track.... With Jok gone next year, Bo might shoot even more threes and score more points...

Fair enough. I'd wager $1,000 that Bohannon averaged at least 5 more points per game than Gesell in their respective college careers when Bo graduates.
Mike Gesell Freshman Stats:
8.7 points a game, FG: 40.3%, 3PT: 31.7%, FT: 79.4%, 2.6 assists, 1.7 turnovers

Jordan Bohannon Freshman Stats:
10.9 points a game, FG: 38.8%, 3PT: 41.6%, FT: 85.5%, 5.1 assists, 2.2 turnovers

Mikes freshman year was about as good as it got for him on offense too.

So are we still bemoaning the fact that JuWan McCloud and his 3.7 pts and 1.5 assts is at UNI and we're stuck with Bohannon? Just want the expert's opinions.
