Let me start by saying I hope Woodbury signs with the Hawks, period. However, I sense that some view his decision as make or break for Iowa hoops and I don't think that assertion is accurate or fair. We have Olaseni with Meyer on the way. Granted, Olaseni is raw and needs some reps, but Meyer, by all accounts, is solid. Big difference here is that Meyer plays in the ATL and Woodbury plays in Iowa.
My point here is not to downgrade Woodbury's play or his importance to the future of Iowa hoops. It is to point out that Woodbury is one guy and basketball is a team sport. Centers don't play the prominent role they used today with today's emphasis on playing fast and shooting 3's. I would hate for Woodbury to come here and take Gatens' spot as the Iowa kid that never sees the dance. There has to be a supporting cast because Woodbury is not going to be a Sullinger, Oden, Durant, etc. type player that dominates games IMO.
