who is your favorite Iowa Basketball Player of All Time??

Blue, I've been following your posts since you got here and I still don't know what the hell a "Wild Bull Pumfus" is.

1. Roy Marble
2. BJ Armstrong
3. Andre Woolridge

My favorite moment was Gamble nailing the shot to beat Oklahoma in the Sweet 16. I still believe Oklahoma was the best team that year and if it wasn't for Armstrong getting the flu, the Hawkeyes would have easily beat UNLV to get to the Final 4.

Kingsbury, but then again, I'm biased as he is a good friend of mine.

no way. calling your bluff. Kingsbury was my all time fav growing up. tried to find some highlight clips recently and nothing, NOTHING is out there. boggles my mind. dude was such a mystery. either freaking awesome, or a freaking train wreak either way, can't take your eyes off the TV. mythical figure for me. better Hawks, for sure. but my fav growing up.

And even though he wasn't the best, I did like me some les Jensen. The big red shot blocking machine from bow bells

I have another one, as I think about players that I really liked and appreciated watching develop in their career.

Probably one of the best examples was Jim Bartles, I really liked watching him play. I remember Iowa at Minnesota and Jason Walton (Clem Jr.) undercut Bartles, he came off, but came back to play a great game. I have to say he should have been in my original five, cannot believe I forgot him, but there have been so many good players to remember.

definately Woolridge... i remember always being amazed when he'd make some crazy full court bounce pass that perfectly threaded three defenders....

Followed by "if i'm in bounds, i can make it"
Kingsbury and then settles.

I was born in early 70s so I didn't see any of Ralph Miller teams. Ronnie Lester is by far the best player that has donned a Hawkeye uniform in my lifetime. I despise anything Louisville and will never root for them in any sport.

My favorite Hawks not named Ronnie Lester:

Top 5: Mark Gannon, Vince Brookins, Kevin Boyle, Greg Stokes, Andre Woolridge

Sorry I just got to add another the 7 foot center from Bowbells ND Les Jepson!

Second mention. I appreciate the support, although it's spelled "Jepsen".

My own vote goes to Bill Seaberg. Because I've been to his house. Sorry, Ronny, you want my vote, step up.

I'm not in the habit of giving away my secret identity. There are a few posters who know who I am and if anyone wanted to do a little detective work, it wouldn't be that hard to figure out. Suffice it to say he played in the early 60's. We lost dad a few years ago, but I honor his memory by wearing his lettermans ring and a watch he won in a holiday tournament to home games at Carver. Before any of you get bent out of shape about a non letterman wearing the ring, my father asked me to remember him that way on his death bed.
I'm sorry for your loss.I think it's awesome your dad asked you to do that.
I did take two recruiting visits to Iowa, but in the end, the offer didn't come and I played at North Dakota. I would not have gotten much time at Iowa, but the legacy thing was kind of neat. Micheal Payne was playing at the time and his father Tom was a teammate of my fathers.

Unfortunately, when I lost Dad, I also lost any access to the basketball program I used to enjoy. We would frequently get to attend lettermen's events and have close access to the team and coaches. It was a lot of fun.
I'm sorry for your loss.

No 1 >>>> Ronnie Lester...BEST EVER at IOWA !!!

I also loved Andre Woolridge

I am surprised no one mentions Clay Hargrave, 6'3" and led the BigTen in rebounding. He was a true skywalker!
