When was your first Hawkeye football game?

My first game ever was at home against Northwestern in 2002. Brad was 10-10 for nearly 200 yards and didn't play the entire second half. We won 62-10 and after he finished 2nd in the heisman voting that season, I couldn't help but wonder what would have had he played the full game whether it would have made a difference (young and dumb at the time). Anyway my best friend happened to have a free ticket at the last minute and as a huge fan I said sure. Had the time of my life, and have owned 4 season tickets ever since.

First one was in college I believe. Too poor to go as a kid. When I was able to go I really thought it was cool and still do to this day. Nothing better than a sun drenched day in the fall at Kinnick watching our states team. Best part is watching the hawk semi rip through the roads of Ia.

Ready for this? 1953. I was 8 years old. Don't remember a thing about it except being fascinated with all the people in the stands. After all, I was living in Rock Rapids at the time. And, we spent a lot of time in the car after the game in a traffic jam and finally made it to the Amana Colonies for dinner.

Michigan State in 1981. I was 20 and tickets were $11. Four of us went to game and 3 made it back. Hawks clinched Rose Bowl bid and we rushed the field. This was before cell phones and one of the guys got separated. We lived 220 miles from IC. He made it home 3 days later.

OK, I'll take the bait.

September 1962 with my dad. I was 7 years old. We beat Oregon State that day. I was hooked.

There is nothing like Kinnick on game day. It doesn't matter if we are a good team or a bad one. What a rush

Jan 1, 1982 Rose Bowl....we got our arses handed to us by Washington,. I didn't care, there was so much Hawk support (prime example...50,000 est at the Hawkeye tailgate party 2 days before game at Century Plaza Hotel), the Iowa fans won me over that entire week. It was what put the ball in motion to transfer to Iowa that following fall. Never looked back.

I was 16 when I attended my first Iowa football game in 1985. That game Iowa -v- Michigan. In 1990 while serving in the Marine Corps during (Desert Storm) my father got a football signed for me by a Famous Former Marine his name Hayden Fry.

1997 Minnesota game. Tim Dwights last game at Kinnick. Got to touch Floyd of Rosedale as Jared Devries carried him off the field. Awesome memory.

And the Rolling Stones played at the uni dome the night before the game. What a weekend. Do you remember Andre Tippet blowing up that MSU guy down buy the South end zone, it was an attempted screen pass.

I don't remember screen pass. I do remember it being very cold.

My first game was Iowa vs. Northwestern and I think it was in 1986. I know that it poured down rain the entire game. My Dad (who I still go to games with) took me and he was ready to leave, as many fans did in the rain, but I made him stay the entire game. He felt so bad that I had to sit in a downpour the entire game that he got tickets the next year to take me to the Michigan State game where we watched Lorenzo White run all over Iowa.

I have no idea when my first game was. Not a clue. Is that bad?

Only if you were under 12 years old at the time.

My first game was Tulsa in '97 with my dad. I was 7 years old and couldn't have been more excited to see the Hawks play in person. Saw Banks go nuts and got my first Iowa jersey. Still have that No. 6 jersey hanging in my closet, and I'll eventually give it to my kids.
