When was your first Hawkeye football game?

Only if you were under 12 years old at the time.

My first game was Tulsa in '97 with my dad. I was 7 years old and couldn't have been more excited to see the Hawks play in person. Saw Banks go nuts and got my first Iowa jersey. Still have that No. 6 jersey hanging in my closet, and I'll eventually give it to my kids.

1997 vs. Tulsa. Tavian Banks rushed for the school record that day.

Crazy.

Iowa vrs UCLA in Iowa City. Tippett was a man among boys that game and if my memory is not failing me I seem to remember Reggie Roby kicking the crap out of the ball.

1961, Jerry Burns first year. Iowa 42 -the Fainting Irish 21. My dad usually attended one game a year during the Evy era thanks to his boss.

First, game was Iowa vs. Nebraska in 1981, attended 3 more games that season, and the Rose Bowl. Been a fan since that season. Attended the game with my father who was a graduate and fan, and I went out to graduate as well, and a life long Hawkeye fan.

I always laugh at any "I was at that game" thread that includes all the people who claim to have been inside Kinnick for the legendary 1985 Iowa #1 vs Michigan #2 game. Kinnick held what, ~68,000 people at that time, including SRO? If everyone who claimed to be there was actually there, the crowd would have been close to 200,000 people.

I wasn't there. :)

Cool story bout that game Scorp...may have even thrown it out here before, but with Houtlin lining up his kick, myself and my soon to be future ex-wife are literally holding up my inebriated freshman brother between us so that he can "witness" the kick...he can barely stand, we're 6-8 rows up in the North stands directly behind goalpost (as we tracked down HawkeyeBob to his seats late in game)...

Anyhow, just seconds after ball goes through uprights, and as we fans are all celebrating and dancing in the stands, we look to celebrate with missing Bro, don't see him, only to look up and find intoxicated Bro is on someones shoulders trying to pull himself up on the "greased' crossbar of the goalpost (literally seconds after kick)....we like to refer to it as the 'kick that sobered the drunks' (Gawd, I sure miss bota bags and kegs inside Kinnick...well maybe not, but if I was young again I would)!
