Villanova game thread

The Maryland game showed how to beat Iowa. And it was an easy, easy, thing to implement. Rough em up. Fran can't make adjustments, so that's where we are.

I disagree. This team is not talented relative to top 40 teams. They actually overachievedo with the talent they put out there. 2 starting guards who can't shoot and both are undersized. A center that doesn't block or alter shots and no scoring threat. Utoff and Jok only two guys capable of scoring. You can't adjust to having no shooters/scorers.

------Not sure why the coaches didn't completely reconstruct Gessel'Gessel's shot when he came here. He pushes the ball like a junior high kid trying to shoot to far from the rim.

Always wondered that one too!

We have an update from Allie LaForce.
Let's go the Iowa sideline.

That was supposed to be my ride to Indy.

I would only add that Fran's offense did not take advantage of his mis-matches..Utoff in particular

Time for some perspective. It's actually pretty amazing Iowa had the season they did starting 2 guards and a center that can't shoot. Gessel and Clemmons' wide open threes don't even rattle around the rim. Not sure why the coaches didn't completely reconstruct Gessel'Gessel's shot when he came here. U serious? This staff? Have you seen Uhl? You leave with what you came with when you get to Iowa, not a single thing more.

At least Ferentz develops guys; he might misuse / not use them in strategically optimal ways but there's no denying he teaches them skills and techniques and game IQ. MuckCaff ... Plug-n-play is the Philly way; coaching optional.

You are agreeing just saying it in a different way.

Fully realize but where would you classify the Iowa program after the Alford and Lick years? Great shape? How would you recruit to a school that was in complete free fall?

Fire Fran, that is the answer these days. Everybody needs instant gratification. I'm not happy with the end of season meltdowns and tournament collapses either but he has had us in the post season the last 4 years...after how many seasons with nothing. Careful what you ask for.

Fair point. Question how many years do you give a basketball coach to win? I mean do we go another 6 with the same results? Then after 12 is it fire the coach?

I guess if the AD and fanbase are happy with a Rose Bowl and a second round exit both blow outs. We go to minor bowls and barely make NCAA tournaments then let them stay till they die. I just don't agree with the premise based on what these guys get paid these days. YOu get that kind of money you need to win or move on. We aren't running a charity half way house for wannbe coaches.
