I don't know how credits transfer and such, but wouldn't he have to graduate from the JUCO to be eligible? If he could not complete the degree in one year with his Wisc. transfer credits, then he'd have to stay another semester.
Well, that's flawless logic. In that case, blah blah blah blah Bo Ryan is teh Satan, blah blah blah Fred Hoiberg's Blackberry, blah blah blah blah blah blah unathletic Lick ball player.
Plus, he can still appeal the Big 10 restrictions in the next 8 days.
If he goes JUCO, he only gets 2 years at a D1 school. If he goes directly to a D1 school, he'll get 3 years at that level.Makes sense he wants to skip the JUCO route.
why would he lose a year going juco. he's a freshman, going juco doesn't make him a soph does it?
Let's say for a second he does want to come to Iowa, would it be tampering for Fran to suggest this to him? I suppose Uthoff would have to contact Fran first.
Edit - stfu Ghost!
Sorry, I misread the initial post(s). I thought you guys were talking about Uthoff transferring after a JUCO stint (2 years).I will learn to read better next time.Seeing as he qualified out of HS, he wouldn't need to graduate from the JUCO to be eligible for a D1 transfer. He could be one and done and then have 3 years of eligibility at a D1 school.I think in this case, though, Uthoff wants to get to the school now, learn the system, practice with team, be part of the University, and then the next year he's ready to be a contributor as a RS SOPH. I can understand that. And he could, theoretically, do that at a B1G school he would just have to pay the cash for the first year before getting aid the next three years.Interesting topic, for sure, but I don't think Uthoff wants to go the JUCO route.why would he lose a year going juco. he's a freshman, going juco doesn't make him a soph does it?
I asked this in the other thread but it got buried. If Uthoff has to sit out a year prior to playing and will only have three years of eligibility remaining, why wouldn't he go to a Juco first? When done there he could go anywhere he wanted, including all the schools in the big ten.
Actually the more I read about it the more I realize a Juco is probably unlikely even if he goes to a bten school. He can go to a Bten school, he can even practice with the team. He just can't get money the first year. After the first year however he would have 3 years to play just like anywhere else, and he can get a schollie.
What's instate tuition? 10K? That's probably not an issue for him.
A JUCO would only come into play if he wanted to to elsewhere in the Bten, like Indiana.

10k was pretty close, I was only considering tuition and school costs. He'll find a way to get beer money.
