Trey Dickerson commits to Iowa

Brandon Hutton, 2015 SF with a pretty impressive list of offers, also committed today. He is an athletic defender, so basically everything Iowa needs.

I'm going to start a 2015 recruiting thread Strat -- was going to post that but you beat me to it.

Hutton is huge. Super athlete from Chicago who will break into the top 150 this summer.

Get Boudreaux too, and Fran is where he wants to be!

might go a lot higher than that!

Agree about Mike, but I think he's on to something with Jok starting at the 3.

I am actually pro jok starting...just at the 2. I think oglesby has found his role off the bench and want to keep him there. I also think Uthoff should start at the 3. I think there are players who are better as starters as they can find their rhythm better...I believe Uthoff and jok are those types of players.

Let's just hope Franny gets the team pulled together before BTT and we can maybe get 2 or 3 wins.

Hutton and Dickerson an LA and Chicago kid thank GOD we've now gone beyond Iowa and Indiana for recruits

I was kind of thinking with 2 junior pg on the roster for next year... Fran is thinking this guy will contribute right away or he may have went the high school route.

I know what your saying. Fran tried for a frosh but struck out. The team needed another player that can handle bringing the ball up the court so he went with the next best thing in getting a talented juco. It's not ideal for class separation but he was needed. I hope this doesn't affect Clemmons at all, I like his game when he plays under control.

I too think that TD and MG could play together. However, why is everyone assuming that Gesell would slide over to SG in that scenario? TD appears to be the higher volume scorer and MG has a proven A/T ration that you wouldn't want to take out of the PG position.

JO will get big minutes next year at SG but TD's quickness will make an impact. Jok needs to make some strides this off-season or he'll get lost in the shuffle again.

I like this pick up for the class continuity situation as TD will come in as a sophomore and so be a senior after the Woody-MG-JU-Sapp class graduates along with Jok and Meyer.

Lol MG isn't a 2 guard. Can't shoot consistent enough and is undersized for a 2. No way he moves to the 2 over Oges.

Tweet from TD about two hours ago...

"Just spoke to bro Brandon Hutton we all ready to turn up the big 10 that inner city toughness"

If Trey had committed some where else, half the board would be in meltdown.

If Fran offered and he accepted this is a great thing

I would be stunned if Clemmons is still on the team next season. I doubt Fran even scout Dickerson if he was comfortable with Gesell and Clemmons at the point next season.

There will be instances in certain game circumstances where Fran will have to go with a smaller speed lineup. Maybe not often, but MG and TD will be on the floor at the same a few times next year.

I think that he might go with Mike and the point, Trey at the 2, Oglesby at the 3, White at the 4 and Woody at the 5. Jok, Gabe and Utoff would be the 1st 3 off of the bench.

If Clemmons transfers, then I think that Jok might be at the 2 and the point guard may be up in the air once the players battle it out.

Why? You can never have enough guards and depth at guard has been very thin since Fran got to IC. So, would you think the same way if Fran got Ulis?

Fellas, this is an OUTSTANDING get for Fran- we are in good hands with Trey. I have had the opportunity to watch TD in person three times this year. I have been a season ticket holder for the past 12 years and his ability to handle the rock, run the floor, and most importantly create his own shot ranks up there as good as I have seen from an Iowa perspective. Trey is EXTREMELY quick and has a knack for getting open. I compare him to a cross between Horner and Woolridge with a little Bryce Cartwright mixed in. With three years left to play this couldn't have worked out any better from a timing perspective. Yes, I am basing my opinion off of JUCO level talent but the games I personally watched his quickness and playmaking ability were on a completely different level - one that I feel could benefit this team right now. Trey is a huge get in his own right but if he can bring his buddy along with him to Iowa City watch out my brothers, we will not take any steps back.
