Trey Dickerson commits to Iowa

Fellas, this is an OUTSTANDING get for Fran- we are in good hands with Trey. I have had the opportunity to watch TD in person three times this year. I have been a season ticket holder for the past 12 years and his ability to handle the rock, run the floor, and most importantly create his own shot ranks up there as good as I have seen from an Iowa perspective. Trey is EXTREMELY quick and has a knack for getting open. I compare him to a cross between Horner and Woolridge with a little Bryce Cartwright mixed in. With three years left to play this couldn't have worked out any better from a timing perspective. Yes, I am basing my opinion off of JUCO level talent but the games I personally watched his quickness and playmaking ability were on a completely different level - one that I feel could benefit this team right now. Trey is a huge get in his own right but if he can bring his buddy along with him to Iowa City watch out my brothers, we will not take any steps back.

Very nice insight based on personal knowledge having seen Trey play, it he comes with his teammate, Fran has scored big, and I like their attitude according to Glidinghawk., We could use some inner city toughness.....

Let's just hope Franny gets the team pulled together before BTT and we can maybe get 2 or 3 wins.

The possibility exists T, and I am siruis.....

They know what they need to do to beat Big teams and it is time to get back to the team we have been proud of this year at times. This has been an exciting year for certain, dispite one or two plays costing us the game time after time.....

Why? You can never have enough guards and depth at guard has been very thin since Fran got to IC. So, would you think the same way if Fran got Ulis?

With Dickerson coming in Clemmons will not see very many minutes. Granted he might stick around to get his degree, which is admirable, but if unless he is satisfied with garbage time minutes or just being used in a pinch I cannot imagine him sticking around. He is not a B1G point guard, defensively he is solid, but he is not effective running the offense and is not much of a threat to score.

But no, I would not have felt the same way had Iowa gotten Ulis. Big difference between bringing in a true freshman versus bringing in a junior college transfer. You do not go out and get a JC to sit on the bench and be 3rd string to Gesell and Clemmons, a freshman maybe. IMO, if Fran was comfortable with Clemmons running the offense and getting significant minutes next season he does not even look at Dickerson.

Fair points. I guess I just look at it as adding ball handling depth that is needed with Marble leaving. Who's to say Fran won't play more 2 PG on the floor style next year. Isn't that what he did at Siena and what he basically does now with Marble? Who knows how the graduating senior's minutes will be spread around. I think there will be just over 60 mpg opening up. It could get interesting to see how the staff uses them. It could all depend on how good the incoming players are and if Fran somehow lands Atwood. If they get a good chunk of those minutes then you are probably right about Clemmons getting basically the same minutes he gets now.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. I hope Clemmons stays as I like knowing there is depth at PG but I can't fault him if he wants to play more minutes then he gets now either.

Thank you for the eyewitness report. Sounds great to me. We need the quickness. Also love how quickly Trey and Brandon identified one flaw in the current team. We need city toughness. I love all our choir boys, but down in the crunchtime....toughness seems to be lacking. I have been concerned that some city players might not see them fitting in at Iowa, but with these additions, that is not an issue. We need a better mix, and we are on our way!

You don't use a scholly on a JC to sit or develop that player. You bring a JC in to play and contribute immediately. Clemmons is gone.

I'm not a TD expert by any means, but from what I've read about him, he is a scorer first. I think he would fit better as the 2 picking up a large part of Dev's minutes.

Mike G is just coming into his own now at the PG. You can't ask any better A/TO ratio than what he's got.
