Trey Dickerson commits to Iowa

I will feel a lot better when he gets in the Iowa uniform and on the court. As Hubbard taught us...no such thing as a sure thing until the games start. Especially since as others said, the "vultures" will continue to circle.

Except Hubbard had all sorts of question marks whereas Dickerson doesn't really seem to have any.

Welcome, Trey Dickerson! Don't let some of these posts get to you. They are frustrated with how the team is playing. Welcome.

Oh I love the talk of Clemmons not being this or that and maybe transferring. Here is a scenario Dickerson/Gesell start and Clemmons/Oglesby come off the bench. Throw Uthoff in at SF and move White to PF and it looks like a lineup that could make sense.

Anyway, good get and Gesell has no issues playing off the ball and you cannot have enough good PG's on your roster. I don't see this a knock on Clemmons, just the attempt by the staff to add a quality player.

Glad he will be a Hawk.

Can clemmons actually shoot?

The problem is gesell is loads better as a pg than as a sg...both defensively and offensively. The team played better with him at point.

i don't want clemmons to leave and I do think what you say here is possible and probably close to the plan. But we are talking about young men who want to play more and always will think they should and clemmons min dropped a lot this year (5 min less a game for the season, and 10.5 min per game less in conference) bringing in another pg could make him want to seek another opportunity. Hopefully the coaches have a plan and are relaying that to ac but I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves with how things have shaped up.

one more time look at his min per game from 12-13 to 13-14...for all games it is down 5 min, just conference it is down 10.5. Some of that is a healthy mg but I bet he is upset he went from a 17.5 mpg player in conference last yr to 7 mpg this yr.

According to KenPom, 74 B10 players have played enough minutes to qualify for his individual stat categories. Sanjay Lumpkin is ranked 74th with a 30.2% TO rate. Clemmons is at 31.1%.

Last season, Clemmons was ranked 74th with a 29.8% TO rate. You simply can't turn it over that much at this level and expect to play.

This is an awesome get. You can never have enough players that can handle the ball. Losing Marble without adding anybody would have not been a fun experiment. Especially if Gesell were to get hurt. By the way, Fran beat out Washington, Washington State, St. Louis, Nebraska, and Arkansas.

Wondering if this could be a possible starting lineup:

Dickerson at the 1
Gesell at the 2
Jok at the 3
White at the 4
Woody at the 5

Lot of speed and quickness there.

clemmons hasn't been under control all year -- he's teen-wolfed it while bringing it up the court, and hasn't been adequate at getting the team into the half court and attacking the defense

his strength -- physical defense -- hasn't been working for him this year

I hope he stays and is happy as the 3rd option at the point. you need 3 pgs, and it would be better to get a degree from iowa than get more playing time (and a mediocre degree) from a directional school

Career shooting pct is 40.8%, career 3-point shooting is 37%, career FT pct 68 pct. All below average for a good PG.

But.. Marble's career percentages are similar.

That isn't a below average 3 point mark for a point guard. A lot of idiots on this board need to learn how to deal with disappointment after a loss. So many just start making things up.

Stop whining so much. This is an excellent get for us and will help in locking down a fourth recruit. Jesus, the sky isn't falling. We are going to the dance. Stop being children.

Great get for the Hawks!!! Iowa can always use a quick PG with the ability to score. Sometimes I wonder how many true Hawk fans are on the is board. I guess the rest are ISU fans trolling or so called hawks fans that still live at home and have nothing better to do then complain about everything. Hawks are going to the NCAA tournament this and Dickerson will help keep us their next year he is also going to continue to try and recruit for us. I love players that want to be at Iowa and TD fits that bill.

i say no...remember when marble played the point with gesell at the 2? Gesell is not a 2 it is out of his comfort zone at this level. He will be one of the best pgs in the league next yr. why would he play the 2 where he would be a below average 2?

Yeah there werent many available PG that are fit for BCS teams. So he definitely is a good fit, but even more so when you compare who else was out there. He seems like he'll be a much stronger passer than Gessel, just not sure yet he'll contribute overly scoring wise. Hopefully he works out better than Uthoff's first season after transferring (even though he's a juco) and not have the poor defense that Jok due to inexperience.

Agree about Mike, but I think he's on to something with Jok starting at the 3.
