there have been a number of problems with the offense this year (the same ones as last year, actually), and dickerson's speed will not make him a savior, but it's one more piece of the puzzle
atwood isn't the answer inside -- but he could replace what mel brings, plus a jumper and a decent handle
I'll be very happy if we get atwood -- because we need both those guys to stay where we are the in B1G
we will have the same scoring droughts next year that we had this year and last. the book on us is simple: get back to take away the break, and zone, zone, zone. the curl-and-cut that is the best way for the talent on the roster at 2 and 3 to get their shots off gets taken away by a good zone, our bigs aren't quite skilled to make a high post flash to the seam (how that goon from wisky killed us in the 2nd half) the main way to attack, we seem to lack the ball movement to attack the short corner or throw over the defense (surely it's worked on in practice...it may be the skill level of the kids), and we don't have a slasher threat or a consistent outside shooter to attack it off the wing.
dickerson will help if he can break guys down off the dribble to drive and kick. what is really needed are big steps forward to jok and utoff (white is not going to get much better: if you take away his back door and putback game, then all that's left is him trying to get to the line or his mediocre (for this level) jump shot.
I thought this was a 9-9, maybe 10-8 team when we all made predictions in the fall, and next year will be the same. those expectations need not rise until fran can pull in top-tier B1G talent.
we really need boudreaux and hutton/toye to commit for 2015. that's the kind of talent....
