I try to listen about once a month and they've been horrible for as long as I can remember no matter what season it is. It's a radio talent issue. Both are devoid of it.
It's also a sports knowledge issue.

Has anyone noticed how bad they have gotten lately?
I don't listen often only because I don't get up that early.
But this is the toughest time of the toughest time of the year in this job and city.
KXNO needs Jon back in that time slot. I'd say have him prerecord his show and play it at 6am. it would probably get me back to listening to that station.
You're being generous by saying half the time. Now Missouri Valley Conference basketball? They have that covered. The problem is, when they do talk about football it's apparent that they don't know what they're talking about half the time.
I use the ESPN radio App in the morning. M&M or any of the prior days shows on my playlist. Nice app and it loads your favorites automatically. Downcast for iPad is awesome too. There are a lot of college football shows out there and I have them set to reload everyday. I also have SiriusXM and enjoy their college sports station. Paul Fienbaum is a hoot - as long as you understand he is an SEC homer and likes to stir the pot. You can also get him on the Jox radio app. Des Moines doesn't have good sports radio so I don't bother anymore. If Jon and Steve did a weekly podcast I'd be over the moon.
