I thought now would be a good time to go ahead and get this thread started. As you can see, it is very early in the 2015 class recruiting process, and Iowa only has a few offers out, but the number of offers will go up dramatically now that Spring Practice has ended. Offers generally go out this early to players that are major national prospects--high 4* and 5* guys--but once Iowa holds summer camps in June, we'll start to see offers to a lot more players in the high-3* and mid-4* range.

Two of the guys with Iowa offers were on campus this past weekend for the Spring Game. OLB/DE Jashon Cornell is from Cretin Derham Hall in St. Paul, MN, a school that has produced a ton of D1 talent over the decades, including a number of Hawkeyes. LB Justin Hilliard is the brother of RB CJ Hilliard, one of Iowa's top RB targets in the 2014 class.

Top in-state players to watch for this class include OL Bryce Meeker of Cedar Rapids Prairie, LB Brady Ross of Humboldt, QB Ryan Boyle of Dowling, and RB Trevor Allen of Waukee. All have visited Iowa multiple times and are in close contact with the coaching staff.

Beneventi had a great year. His Benet Academy team was 1-8 two years ago ago made it to the state semi's this year with an 11-2 record in his first year as a starter. He's a good athlete, pocket passer that sees the field very well at 6'6''. His HS coach is a Northwestern grad (former player) and you can see from the highlights they throw a lot of short passes, he does have a cannon, but you can;t see it in the video in the post above. He's a great kid, I would guess is leaning to go to N.D. - he's visited there at least 3x already.

Beneventi will be in IC this weekend.

His favorite is ND, but hopefully he will fall in love with the campus and maybe get a better opportunity to play if he goes here.

New offers this week:
CB Shaun Crawford (Cleveland Area)
OL Sam Madden (Southeastern New Jersey)
ATH Jerome Baker (Cleveland)

I don't know much about Ross, but from what I've read and seen, I think Boyle, Meeker, and Allen are all legit BCS-level prospects. Boyle and Allen could end up being the best Central Iowa QB and RB prospects in more than a decade.

Interesting. Isn't Boyle of extremely slight stature and build? He's also coming off a torn ACL last year I think. I think Chuck Hartlieb is involved with coaching the QBs at Dowling.

Boyle is listed at 6'1", 205 on Rivals. Yes, he did tear his ACL and miss the last two months of the season, but he claims to be back to 100%. This is from an article posted on HawkeyeReport on May 1:

"Health wise, I'm about 100% now," said Boyle. "I just have to keep building the muscle around my knee and in my right leg. I'm in track right now and I've got my forty down to 4.6, which is where it was before, so I've just got to keeping building my confidence so I can plant on that leg and not be timid or anything like that, and just play the game like I used to."

Also, yes, Chuck Hartlieb does have a relationship with the QBs at Dowling, though I'm not sure exactly what that entails. Hartlieb's son Dan was a senior starter for Dowling in '11 before coming to Iowa as a walk-on.

Iowa has offered a pair of defensive linemen from areas they haven't recruited much over the years:
DT Jacob Daniel of Clovis, CA
DE Clelin Ferrell of Richmond, VA

I heard that Hartlieb coached him in the Catholic Football League. Dan was still on their board last I saw.

247Sports has released their first Top 247 for the 2015 class. There are several players with Iowa offers on the list:

18. OLB/DE Jashon Cornell

A few new offers to report:
DT Christian Wilkins [Connecticut]
DE Adam McLean [Washington, DC Area]
WR Damarkus Lodge [Dallas/Fort Worth]
OL James Daniels [Northeast Ohio] (Brother of Iowa RB LaShun Daniels. Father played for Ohio State.)

Some new offers to report from the last couple of weeks:
TE Kyle Marway [St Louis]
S Jack Hockaday [Central Illinois]

Also, 5-star OL Tristan Teuhema has committed to Texas.

Multiple sites are reporting that Iowa is the first school to offer OL Levi Paulsen and his twin brother OL Landan Paulsen. The Paulsen twins are from Woodbury Central HS near Sioux City. Don't be surprised if sometime between now and Christmas one or both of the Paulsen twins become(s) Iowa's first commit(s) of the 2015 class.

Another update: According to multiple sites, WR Jaelan Austin of Grand Prairie, TX visited Iowa City this weekend, and he now has an Iowa offer.
