Tracking 2013 Class Offers

One final thought on Ertz before I hang up and listen--He seems to fit the profile of a guy that could go to a juco or a prep school to get some exposure and earn some BCS-level offers. Right or wrong, the fact that he's from Mediapolis, Iowa hurts his recruiting standing. If he goes to a school like Iowa Western for a year, his stock could go way up.

I've seen him play a few times. He's pretty good. A great athlete. Part of state champion 4x100 team today, pretty good basketball player as well. He's got interest from Duke, Iowa, ISU, Kansas, Kansas St, North Dakota, UNI, Penn, Purdue and S. Dakota St. They all say meduim interest so who knows how serious. Combined stats for last 2 years are Passing: 256-419 for 4,091 yds, 49 td, 18 int's. Rushing 180 1,031 yds and 16 td's. Int's could be a little lower. Just wondering if they were looking at all. I've heard the clowns are looking at him pretty good.

In an interesting turn of events, it's being reported that Iowa has offered another quarterback, Davis Webb of Prosper, Texas.

Apparently Webb played for Keller High School in Texas last year. Here's a link to some junior film.

Edit: It's actually just a couple of plays shown from a number of angles. I try to find a better video.

Edit again: Okay, I figured it out. The video has highlights from multiple games. One of the games is against Fossil Ridge. That was the confusion there. There are 10 games of highlights in the link.

Here's a link to his Hudl profile and a bunch of highlights:

1. With Iowa picking up a QB this week, I see the Hawkeyes being done at QB for this recruiting year, barring a blue chip being interested in Iowa (99% sure that won't happen, given current commitments). Here will be Iowa's depth at QB for 2013 (in order by class):
Sokol (RS Jr/Sr)
Rudock (RS So)
Beathard (RS Fr/So)
Shimonek (Fr)

2. Even before Iowa picked up Shimonek, I hadn't seen too much connection between the Hawkeyes and Ertz. I know there was at least some contact, but I'm not sure how much. Two Iowa HS QBs, Kyle Starcevich (SE Polk) and Joel Lanning (QB/ATH, Ankeny), attended Iowa' junior day in February. Ertz may have been right there with the others, but I hadn't seen it publicized. I know Ertz attended Iowa State's junior day. The Cyclones don't have any commitments in this class yet, and Ertz doesn't have any offers yet. Once the camp scene gets going in June, things will likely start to fall into place for both parties.

Iowa should try to sign Trevon Young from DM Lincoln. I saw Young swat a Pete Jok jump shot. Check out the entire tape earlier in this thread. Legit.
