Tracking 2012 Class Offers

We are offering a lot of WR, with Lile (possibly a WR) possibly comitting we only have a few slots open. Doesn't give much hope for Darboh, McDonald, Severin and the list goes on.

WR recruiting is an emphasis in this class. I don't think that the Hawkeye coaches feel that they can afford to whiff in this class ... so if they aren't getting a strong vibe from somebody, they're just going to keep on offering guys who they like.

Most folks seem to be suggesting that Darboh will likely opt for ND or Florida, McDonald will likely opt for tOSU, and Severin and Golden will likely stay out east.

On the flip side, I really think that there's a pretty good shot that Iowa could land Malloy, Coleman, and Garmon in this class ... and, if I were to guess, I'd bet that not all of them end up at RB. Malloy was explicitly recruited at BOTH RB and WR ... thus, he knew that playing at WR was a good possibility. As for Coleman and Garmon ... both are ATH-types too.

Anyhow, the point being that I could easily see us ending up having Lile, Wilson, Malloy, and Coleman at WR ... and they'd provide us with quite a bit of talent and playmaking skills there.

Laron's commitment has been updated. That makes the current commit-list:

Taylor [LB]
Kornbrath [K/P]
Wilson [WR]
Johnson [DT]
Ward [OT]
Keppy [OG/OT]
Fleming [CB]
Ott [DE]
Malloy [ATH]

Color me stupid, but who the heck are Macon Plewa and Brendon Boerm? Not recalling those names.

Plewa is a walk-on LB from Wisky.

Boerm is a walk-on ATH/DB from Iowa ... pretty much an all-everything talent from a smaller school. Don't be shocked if Boerm ends up having a Considine-like impact on the squad.

Greg Garmon will be in IC Tuesday. He is no longer considering UNC. His new top 4 is Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and Pitt.

Just for some housekeeping on the front page Homer, Mastromatteo to UNC, Lutui a soft UCLA as previously reported.

Anyone hear anything lately on Daryl Render? Sounded like he was pretty high on Iowa early in the summer and was gonna take a visit... and then I haven't heard a peep about him from anybody, anywhere, on any site. Anybody heard anything about him?

He went to North Tama (Traer). Amazing all around multi sport athlete. I believe he lead them to the 1A Football Ship this year. Get him in a solid training program and he will be all over special teams after a red shirt year.
