Tracking 2012 Class Offers

Just to update where Iowa stands with some top recruits:

- Iowa is one of five finalists for MA receiver Canaan Severin (4* Rivals, 3* ESPN) along with Penn St, Boston College, Virginia, and Uconn.

- Jaleel Johnson, MI DT (4* Rivals, 4* ESPN) is down to Iowa and Michigan St. Rumor has it Johnson will commit to Iowa on Tuesday the 5th.

- Iowa is considered by many to be the leader for Gerald Thomas, WR from TX (3* Rivals, 3* ESPN). Thomas has an official top two of Iowa and Arizona.

- Iowa is in the top 4 for MN TE Will Johnson (3* Rivals, 3* ESPN), who has been blowing up this summer. Iowa joins Auburn, Minnesota, and Ole Miss in Johnson's top 4.

- Alex Kozan, OL from CO, (4* Rivals, 4* ESPN) has named Iowa the only "lock" for his top seven, so interpret that as you will. Kozan boasts offers from the likes of Arizona, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma St, Oregon, and many others.

Iowa seems to be sitting pretty well with a lot of WR. They already have Wilson committed, and if they were to land Severrin and Thomas that woudl be 3 already (I think Flemming goes on D). I wonder how many they will take and where that leaves Darboh's recruitment (as time goes one I don't see him at Iowa (I'd say Wisky or ND, with an outside shot at Nebby) but I don't really know much, just a gut feeling.

I thought Thomas had us and Zona in his top 2...must have went on a visit there or something

Kozan may be the next OSU OL offer, he has said an OSU offer would be tough to turn down. He has a lot of Ohio ties.

Wondering where we stand with other DL recruits. Like to see us snag another good DT, and one DE. Sounds like we still have a reasonable shot at DT's Sheldon Day, Vincent Valentine, Dan O'Brien and Tommy Shutt. Who's some of the better DE's we still have a shot at?

Here is a few more that have named Iowa one of their favorites:

Evan Winston - Yahoo! Sports
Nathanael Lohn - Yahoo! Sports
Faith Ekakitie - Yahoo! Sports

Sheldon Day is coming in for a visit sometime this July.
Valentine wants to visit Iowa, and is looking to have a top ten fav. sometime this July.
Don't like the chances of getting O'Brien or Shutt.

Kyle Kalis 5* OT from OH, committed to Michigan. That's 2 OT for them, hope that helps with Diamond

That's one of the first thoughts to flash in my mind too.

To go a step further, Michigan has the following OL recruits committed in their current class:

Ben Braden
Caleb Stacey
Eric Magnuson
Blake Bars
Kyle Kalis

And that's in addition to landing:

Tom Stroblel (DL, 6-6/250) - projects well on both sides of the ball
Matt Godin (DL, 6-6/265) - projects on both sides of the ball
AJ Williams (TE, 6-6/260) - can project at OT in addition to TE

That's already A LOT of bodies that project to the OL. They're going to have to ease up recruiting the big guys at some point.
