Okay, for the contrarian perspective...

It's a really good fit. The Hollywood types around the UCLA program will have no problem with Alford's act. He won't have to deal with the immediate community things that he sucks so bad at.

His style of play will work well with the types of players to which he will have immediate access. He got good players at NM, he'll get better at UCLA.

And the football stadium is about an hour away from the university.

But how does he expect to get all the free stuff he expected at previous two coaching positions with all the celebrities in LA? IE: free dry cleaning , free John Deere mower and so on...

So Alford ended up getting the recruit, Kendall Williams, that was the beginning of the end for Howland and then got Howland's job.

The funny thing is...when Dakich says that he recruits Ca. well, he is sorta right...former UCLA player and commit, Drew Gordon and Kendall Williams,were MWC POY for SA at NM the last two years. Lucky for SA that he had those UCLA recruits to bring him success at New Mexico,which now allows him to get the UCLA job...did not work out so well for Howland,tho.

I am hearing that the million dollar buyout does not even kick in until Monday. Lobos are totally getting screwed.

What the heck is the UCLA AD thinking? There were so many better coaching options out there that UCLA could have gotten for a lot less money. This move baffles me.

if this was his best option, he should have called Howland back up and seen if they could work something out! wayyyy overpaid for the job on an unproven coach.

Nope, their first post in that thread. Don't hate on the Lobo's right now, they are going through what we went through. That makes 2 fan bases using the phrase Alfraud to describe that sleeze ball.
