Sokol could be starter for La Tech in opener

Although 5 touchdowns is impressive under any circumstance, I don't remember many of his passes that most decent QB's wouldn't complete. They had a good passing scheme and good routes. Both Jake and CJB would have hit those passes, too.

The Hox best QB plays for ffffuuu La Tek.

This is is depressing and infuriating to witness. He's noticeably and substantially better than the two guys who allegedly beat him out.

Maddening and depressing that once again Kurt appears to have overlooked the best QB on his team in favor, this time, of one who most plays looks like a deer caught in the headlights, can't throw more than 20 yards, which is probably fine because he can't spot the open downfield receiver, and struggles to put points on the board.

And Iowa pays $4 million/year for this?

Except Jake would have checked down on half of those and the team would have to settle for missed field goals.

Ok, seriously, Sokol had an equal chance to be the starter at Iowa and he got beat out. I am just glad he got a chance to prove himself at a FBS program.

Now you got to wonder if Beathard is looking at Sokol's sucess and wondering if he should transfer too.

He absolutely should, IMHO.

Yeah, but one of those was his first ever start on the road in Norman against top 10 ranked Oklahoma. Jake and CJ are in the friendly confines of Kinnick facing the defenses of Ball State and the Cedar Falls Panthers.

I done fixed it for ya to reflect current realities.

So far

Sokol 9 TD 2 int. Margin +7
Rudock 4 TD 0 int. Margin +4

It will be interesting to watch these numbers as the season progresses.

There was somebody on the radio talking who was a Big 10 type reporter who said that Sokol clearly looked like the best QB to him when he visited the Iowa camp. It's one guy's opinion, but he looks pretty good so far for La Tech. I think Iowa was lucky to have three competent guy at the position, and KF just felt that Jake was the best guy for our system.

No tv for La Tech this week as they take on the fearsome Northwestern State and The Demons. Sokol will probably have his real coming out party on the road at Auburn next weekend, probably on the SEC Network.

I'd love to say that it was weaker competition that he is benefitting from, but that's not the case. #4 Oklahoma on the road. LA Lafayette, North Texas. Those teams are better than Iowa's opponents. System failure. Complete System Failure.

Okay, so everyone has a bad game every now and then and I'm sure Sokol is no different. He may have been looking ahead to Auburn next week, or the C-USA title game later this year.

Youch - Sokol had a rough one. 3 ints!

Guess who just led his team to a 6-0 start in conference games? Just one win against Rice away from a division title?

KF is a very, very poor personnel evaluator. He opts for the less talented, corporate PC guy over the guy with talent and play making ability every time.
