Seth Tuttle

This is kinda like an iowa cubs fan bragging to a Chicago cubs fan about having a better record.

The original comment was about pre season schedule. UNI can't control who is in their conference but they can certainly control who they play before conference starts.

Nice try.

Jealousy is too funny. Here is a sample of the last 5 years of UNI's weak schedule pre season schedule: VCU, Maryland, Louisville, Stanford, Memphis, Indiana. Here is a sample of iowa's: Longwood, Brown, Campbell, UT Pan American, Omaha. During the last four seasons that you mentioned UNI had 58 losses, iowa had 63 losses. If you want to take that back 5 years UNI had 63 losses and Iowa had 85 losses.

You should change your name to Don Quixote. Message me if you don't know who that is dawg.

You know what the absolute best part of this post is?

UNI vs VCU L 87-93
UNI vs Maryland L 66-80
UNI vs Louisville L 46-51
UNI vs Stanford L 50-66
UNI vs Memphis L 47-52
UNI vs Indiana W 67-61

Great out of conference showings by the powerhouse UNI program.

Typical scheduling. Mid-majors travel to places like Maryland, VCU, Louisville, etc. for the money. They get huge payouts just to play a game on those courts. Teams like Longwood, Brown, Campbell, UN-Omaha and UNI get a lot of $$$$ to play at the Power 5 conference teams' home courts. UNI and other mid-majors make more in two or three pre-season games at places like Maryland, VCU, etc. than they do the entire rest of the season. You don't seriously think they make all their money playing other MVC teams, do you? You did? Aren't you cute!

Are you an astronomer? Let me give you a comparison. Woodbury had four stars coming out of high school. Three years in to his career he averages 5 points and 3 rebounds per game. CAREER. I think that proves what those stars are worth. 5 POINTS and 3 REBOUNDS for his CAREER!!

So now it's redirect to Woodbury? I thought you were intent on comparing Tuttle and Brunner... it WAS you who brought Brunner into the debate here, right? Trying to compare a guy who was a top 50 player in the nation with a non-ranked player in the state of Iowa?

Yes, Tuttle is a nice player in the MVC in this his senior year. Would he have developed the same in the B1G? Who knows.

Is the 78 in Knigt78 your age? I don't even know who Brunner is so it wasn't me.

You should always put the ranking a team has when you type their name but you wouldn't now that. The point is we played them. We are #14 by the way. And we smoked iowa.

I appreciate you making my point for me about the differences in our conferences. You saved me a lot of work. And let me know when iowa gets to 15 wins.

So UNI is the Chicago Cubs in your analogy? UNI has beaten iowa 3 of the last 5 we played. So that would make sense right?

OP is way off base here.
ST grew up/played in Sheffield, Iowa....10 miles north of my hometown.

He was a stud in his class, sure, class 2A. His conference, the Corn Bowl Conference, consisted of Rockford, Britt, Northwood-kensett, Belmond....you get the drift.

It certainly wasn't a reach that Iowa didn't offer then. The pedigree he played against just wasn't there.

Yeah....we determined all of that already. Does it really matter where he came from? Don't you think it matters more what he did recently. Woodbury was a stud in high school and look at him now. Him and Seth are exact opposites.

The OP's case is we missed the recruiting boat.

I argue, because of pedigree, competition, etc, we did not miss anything.

ST excelled, AW has stagnated. Nobody saw that coming 4 years ago. Has nothing to do with not recruiting him.

Right here is the difference between you and most UNI fans, most UNI fans would be intelligent enough to understand that beating a good Iowa team in a strong Big Ten is worth more. However, you trash Iowa and tout UNI like they are the next Kentucky. Get a clue, UNI is having a great season, good for them I wish you the best, I hope you they win the NC. Is Ben a better coach than Fran, maybe. However Lickliter was a national coach of the year winner and look what his style of ball did at Iowa. Now look at recruiting rankings, if IA pulled in the same star talent as UNI, Iowa fans would be running Fran out--. Tuttle has developed nicely, but you can't tell me anyone saw it coming the way it has. Do yourself a favor, enjoy the moment be less of a ****** and accept the congrats you get from hawk fans, cause I gotta say you sound just like a little bro-- act like you expect good things to happen, don't be so suprised when they do. It's pretty telling of your insecurities that you feel the need to post on here so often in a negative way. In short you are making actual UNI fans look bad. UNI is my second favorite college team, and you are ruining it for me and others.

Tuttle is a pretty good MVC player no doubt about that. Wichita State is their best win in a few years and there is no doubt about that. Wichita State struggled shooting the ball with being under 36% from the field and under 21% from 3. UNI's defense deserves some credit no doubt about that.

That said, Wichita State played most of the game with their tallest player on the court being 6'7" and the next tallest being Baker at 6'4". Wichita State had some size off the bench with 6'11" Wamukota playing 4 minutes and 6'10" Nurger playing 5 minutes. For the sake of argument let's say Tuttle was in the game for every minute those two were on the floor. Tuttle played 30 minutes. That means he played at least 21 minutes being the biggest guy on the court. Mismatches were bound to happen during rotations and with Wichita State's lineup being made up of mostly guards, he took advantage when he got the chance. Kudos to him for doing so.

Could he do that in the B1G where most teams have at minimum a guy his size on the court the whole time? Maybe, but I doubt it. He would probably still have some good spurts like a lot of B1G players but then fade away and not be relevant for long stretches because of the size of players the league has.

UNI is having a great year because they have veterans that play really well together. They play smart and play great team defense. Barring a collapse down the stretch, they are likely to receive an at large bid if they don't win Arch Madness. Team's aren't going to want to play them come March for several reasons. One being that smaller schools are difficult to prepare for since there is limited film on what players can do against power conference personnel ie what is player X's tendency against bigger more athletic defenders etc. Gameplans will be more difficult to prepare because of that. Throw in the great defense and the veteran experience factor and you know that the team won't get flustered easily. Last there is always the Mid-Major seeding factor. Most of the time the really good smaller schools won't get a high seed because they haven't played very many good teams so they end up a lower seed facing mid level power conference teams like Iowa in a 8-9, 7-10, or even 6-11 game.

In other words, UNI is in great shape to make a run in the tournament this year. If given the right matchups, I could see them reaching the sweet 16 again. So why not quit the ******** and trolling on another team's message board and simply enjoy the ride? You are only hurting the respect that a lot of us Hawkeye fans have for the UNI program. There are a lot of us that want to see UNI succeed as it's great recognition for our state. Maybe you are just a clown troll posing as a Panther but either way what's the point of spending so much time on this board?

Good luck the rest of the season and I hope UNI indeed makes a run in the big dance.
